What happened to the Airport Icon from CivIII? It is pretty annoying to figure out which of my cities are capable of delivering an air drop. Is there a mod that corrects this? Adds an airport icon to the city if it has an airport?

Unless you are a stickler for the graphical "beauty" of Civ4:
Press Alt-S to place a sign; click on your city with an airport (I even do it while it is under construction); type your own "icon" of airport for the sign (I use a two-bladed propeller -- an "8").

If you ARE a stickler for the graphical "beauty" of Civ4, then you could always zoom up close to the city and LOOK for it. No different than keeping track of barracked cities.

In BtS you could even just hover the mouse over the city label and look for the airport in the building list detailing all the city stuff.

You can also position a fighter in Intercept mode in your airport cities to give you a graphical clue.

Always good to label one's cities, personally I tend to write the purpose of the given city (in short-hand), plus any additional symbols (IE an airport). This comes in especially useful when your empire begins to get rather large, or with long games.

Hear hear! I've been championing for a re-emergence of an airport icon for ages! I even sent alexman a pm about it...

It would make a GOOD mod to have icons for airports and barracks beside cities. I think the graphics for drydocks are a little more obvious.

Solution: Put an airport in every city. ;)

Only half-joking. For overseas invasions, there's nothing that beats airlifting over a unit from every city each turn. This does require an airport on the far side, but a saved Great Engineer can brew one up for you as soon as your first captured city comes out of revolt.

What do you mean? The destination city doesn't have to have an airport, just the originating city. You can airlift a unit to a city as soon as you capture it.

Yes, but that city can be a destination only once per turn without an airport. To send from multiple cities to that city each turn, it needs an airport.

Well, I don't like that solution personally. Building a airport and a crap-commerce city with no bank/market/grocery that will not even be producing air units is just a waste unless I plan an invasion like that. Still, until you eventually build all those airports you will have to keep track on what cities got airports. And the eventual risk of a stray city here and there lacking them. I allways got cities on different development levels due to invasions and cultureattacks. I still want the icon
