When I try to open the Alerts list to see what it says, it remains in "loading" mode and never actually finishes loading. This just started happening last night (it's approximately 2:30 am here now).

Using Firefox, Windows 10, on a laptop.

Can you define what you mean by "Alerts", I picked your thread up from the Latest Alerts page.

Upper right corner of your screen, next to where it says Inbox.

My Alerts haven't been working. I know I have some, but when I click on it to see the dropdown list, I don't get them. It might take a second or two normally for them to load, but they seem to get stuck in that and don't load.

I'm using Firefox 56.0.2 and don't see this problem (but with Windows 7). Did you upgrade to Firefox 57.0 (AKA "Quantum")? That version has some known incompatibilities. If that's not the case, try clearing your cookies and cache.

That's where I picked up your post from - I'm on Firefox ESR 52.4.1 on Mac so as Petek advises it may be Browser specific. If you are still having issues you could try and see if you get the same result on Internet Explorer.

This will also happen when you try to load the alerts tab if the page hasn't finished loading yet.

It usually gets rid of the new alert highlight as a result but you can still see what posts you've missed by looking at the yellow gear icon just beneath the thread titles.

I just started using a Windows 10 computer a few days ago and am still mostly clueless about it (it's a shock after using an XP for the last year and a half). I downloaded whatever the latest version of Firefox is, and discovered that some things don't work that used to (ie. the Lazarus add-on; that was very useful to recover posts that would otherwise be lost). Is there another version I could use so this would clear up?

You should have Internet Explorer on Windows 10, try using that.

I never use Internet Exploder if I can possibly help it. I gave that up over 10 years ago.

Within Firefox, select Help, About. Doing so will show which version you have installed. Version 57.x is the most recent. To install version 56.0.2, see

    http://mozilla_firefox.en.downloadastro.com/old_versions/

I think you just install v56 on top of v57, but I'm not certain (having never installed an earlier version of Firefox).

It says I am using 56.0.2, but it started to automatically update. So I'm not sure if that's what it updated to, or if I'm going to get 57 the next time I restart the computer.

Sorry I assumed from your post you were not technically proficient, if Firefox is the problem then I would try another Browser - Chrome, Vivaldi, Opera etc. - rather than mucking about with old versions of Firefox.

I don't know if Firefox is the problem. Something else is going on as well; I can't edit my posts anymore.

Mine updated to Quantum this morning, and I still can't get my Alerts properly, still can't edit posts, can't even quote posts. This is also going on on the other XenForo forum I belong to.

Apologies for the double post (can't edit), but now I also can't see that the above post went through without opening the thread in a new tab and checking.

I've been running scans to make sure this isn't due to some malware I might have picked up.

It would appear that the newest Firefox is well and truly incompatible with XenForo forums. I give up. I'm trying this with Opera, to see how it works.

@Petek: Is there any mention of this issue on the XenForo support forum?

It works fine for me in both Xenforo forums I frequent.
