Aliens not able to embark?

Are Player controlled Alien Life forms able to Embark? and If not will this impact their usefulness on non-Pangaea maps?

In both the old and new game versions MadDjinn streamed, aliens of any type could not embark. However, since you can't build them, their reduced usefulness on specific maps isn't really a big deal, IMO. They get outclassed pretty quickly anyhow.

Edit: Drones are the exception, as the only copter class unit in the game. I'd imagine they remain useful as scouts even once combat irrelevant.

To be fair, aren't the hover tanks similar to helicopters? Not that I'm contributing much to the discussion
