Ally call to war mechanics

I was under the impression that the ally 'call to war' mechanic is automatic. If I'm in an alliance and one goes to war, the other gets that notification to join or dissolve the alliance.

However in my current game, the following happened:

- I joined an alliance. My ally later declared war on a 3rd party. I joined. Both at war for a while.
- My ally peaced out. I'm still warring
- It's been longer than 10 turns since he peaced out (20 turns even maybe) and he never rejoined the war. Yet he is still my ally.

Why wasn't my ally forced to choose between rejoining the war or giving up the alliance? Anyone know the fine details behind this mechanic?

The way its currently designed, the alliance/war vs no alliance/no war choice only triggers at the start of a war, any party can independently make peace afterwards without affecting alliance status.
Would be nice if they implemented a more fleshed-out joint war mechanic though, to allow war support sharing and prevent your ally from making peace deals where they get the city you were just about to conquer

Ok got it. So if I were to peace out and 10 turns later DoW again, my ally would have to join (or leave) .. the age will be over before I test this lol.

I think in my previous games I thought it was different because after 10 turn cool off my allies immediately re declared, consistently. Until this particular experience in my 6th game . Now I understand they were re declaring on their free will.

System is robust then, thanks.
