Alpha Centauri wallpapers

I noticed a lack of SMAC/SMAX wallpapers in modern resolutions, so I thought I would solve the issue. My first attempt is Sinder Roze's Data Angels. The 1920x1080 wallpaper is available on my DeviantArt here. I'll be adding more later (possibly even tonight, I'm watching a sick pet tonight), so please check back!

Right on, good to know those are still around. Since my original post, I've made two more; you can find the Lord's Believers here and the Manifold Caretakers here.

EDIT: the wallpaper for the Cybernetic Consciousness is now available here, and Free Drones here. The Cult of Planet is also finished, available here. And now Gaia's Stepdaughters are here and the Human Hive is here.

Any place else to find these wallpapers? I looked around a bit and tried archive.org but didn't find much.
 
Interesting, thanks! I was looking for the original ones, I located a few around the internet, so for anyone else looking for these, I will attach them to the next post.

I think there’s still a few more- the menu screen, and a couple of horizontal views of Planet from space (one with just the Unity, one with the Progenitor ships). No idea where they are though.

Definitely start an image gallery!

That's how the biggest resolution is there over at Kingdom Hearts Insider :dunno:.
Might need to search then potentially further, I guess.

Ahh I see the problem now.. you used the ones from the Kingdom Hearts Insider site instead of the ones from nulltypes's post and they appear to have incorrectly stretched them to a bigger size that chops off the edges.

Looks like the actual true original size is 1024 x 768 as that's what the ones are in nulltypes post and when I look at the 1024 x 768 images on Kingdom Hearts Insider they match nulltypes ones, nothing is chopped off and everything looks sharp.. whereas when I look at the 1280 x 1024 ones everything is blurred and the sides are chopped off.

We should probably replace the wallpaper images with these ones as they are the true undamaged originals. I can do it if you want?

I'm about to have again a look at the current forum design... so... yes please :).
 
Thanks for creating the gallery @The_J! The ones I found are as @Blake00 pointed out, uncropped. I'm not confident these are the original quality though.

I looked around some more and found the archive.org view of the original site: https://web.archive.org/web/20010205001700/http://www.alphacentauri.com/index2.html but I get an error when attempting to download them.

Searching for the filename found a single post on a german civ forum: https://www.civforum.de/showthread.php?46865-Desktophintergr%FCnde

These appear to be the highest quality versions available, attached here for reference.

Good thing I hadn't got to this job yet lol! Thanks, these are definitely better. Well done! I'll get these into the wallpaper section ASAP.
