Here's a much better one, especially with regards to Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and the Middle East.

Spoiler largeness :

WTH? Why is there Tibetan Buddhism in Astrakhan?

A Taste of Honey

That is off by several centuries. :p It's just a teaser, anyway.

So many things wrong with that map...

The world's first official atheist nation is coloured Islamic blue despite having only some 25% of its people having religious beliefs.

I hate how the various religions of Eastern Europe stop just at the border.

Pattani is heavily Muslim.

China is not non-religious.

Germany is just wrong.

Why is there a streak of brown across Finland and Sweden?

In addition to that:

- Karabakh is Christian
- much of the eastern part of Indonesia is Christian
- Bali is Hindu
- South Korea should be mixed Buddhist/Christian/non-religious
- The Jews in Siberia made up only 2% of the population of a single oblast.
- While Israel is colored Sunni blue, WTH?
- Lebanon should be mixed Eastern Christian/Sunni/Shia
- Western Syria should be Shia.
- Where are the Bosniaks?
- Where are the East African Muslims?
- Azerbaijan is majority-Shia.
- What's with Zambia?
- Muslims and Protestant areas in Russia are exaggerated.
- Kashmir is wrong too.
- And Sikkim.
- And Poland.

Israel actually is colored the "Jewish" color. But yeah the map sucks

What about Revolutionary France? And the Soviet Union?
They didn't go as far as Albania, but they were officially Atheistic states.
But even banning regligion doesn't necessarily mean it ceased to exist

As for the numbers, the numbers I find show a majority of Albanians are (at least nominally) muslims. That doesn't mean the people care about their religion or actively practice it, though.
Depending on your criteria you could dramatically change the numbers for many places.

Green shows country members supporting the UN declaration on sexual Orientation and Gender Identity initiated by the Netherlands and France and backed by all members of the European Union.

Red shows country members supporting a counter-resolution on the fore-mentioned bill above initiated by Syria and backed by all members of the Arab League.

Note: The US originally abstained from the issue until President Obama changed US position.
The Vatican City was one of the first nations to speak against the bill.

Surprising mentions on both sides of the resolution include:
Timor-Leste, the second country in Asia with a majority Catholic population
The fact that 6 African Nations support it vs 4 Asian Nations supporting it,
A number of Highly Catholic Latin American Nations
Also, the lack of South Africa's support for the resolution.
And the lack of Singaporean opposition for the resolution.
And Turkey's quiet nature.

Bleh. That's only the start. The Celebes. Amboina. Irian Jaya. Kalimantan. Etc.

Hm, it looks more like a map from a strategy game.

Green - the Global Liberal Alliance of Democracies (GLAD)
Red - the Sincere Coalition Against Liberal Progress (SCALP)

:D

If every country in red on that map sank into the ocean the world overnight would become a better place.

I am not sure a world in which the value of a human life is determined soleley by their government's view on sexual orientation and gender identity would be "better" than this one, but who knows . . .
