Instead of the game ending we should be able to colonize the planets in our solar system. (No Moons) This should be called the space age opening new tech and units. Such as space fighters and transports.
Like I said in another thread like this. If they did that, I would no longer like the Civ3 games. I like them for one reason and one reason only... and that is there realistic potential. I hate the idea overall.
But Civ has always been about "What if?" It as always been about taking a different route, and finding out what could have happened. Of course, Civ never was nor claimed to be a historical simulation.
Would I like to see being able to use other planets like using other continents? It might be interesting. But it wouldn't be Civ.
yep. To create a game of this scale, who start in 4000 BC til the colonization of the solar system, is quite uneatable for your PC and for the time you will spend behind a single game.
Finish a civ III round takes often too much time. (for me, of course)
I concur. However, making the solar-system-wide Future Age a different game using the Civ3 engine would be a spectacular follow-on, IMHO. I haven't played Sid's Alpha Centauri, is that an example of what I'm talking about?
Well I think most of the space components in the modern age really don't help out that much military wise. For example the satellites should help to spy in on enemies and the laser should open up a new form of weapon. I think anyone who even played a game up into the modern age really likes to play long games so to have another age after modern like the space age would be a good thing. Being able to advance in space technology and being able to have a new frontire to explore in space like when the new contienents were being discovered around the 1400's. You could explore the outer reaches of the galaxie for new planets and life! Then maybe you could form a world government on Earth were every civ would unite together. Then your earth civ could trade a have wars with othe alien civs. Of course I'm getting way ahead of myself here.
