Always reloading or never?

Only when a misclicking ruins the game (ooops, I didn't give you all my techs for free, didn't I?)

I rarely reload. Usually I can endure small mistakes. I only reload if an great assault(more than 25 units) fails completely or a too strong enemy declares war on me(can usally prevented by signing a mutional protectact threaty with an other AI).

I sometimes reload when my first warrior finds the opponents's only city defended by only warrior. Then I attack and reload if I don't win.
I pulled this one once, on my previous Emperor game. Errr....actually, I didn't. I saved the game, because one of my roaming spearmen was right next to the Aztec's capital city, defended by a fortified swordsman. I saved the game, then discovered I shouldn't have bothered, because ten seconds later the city was mine!
:king:

Tank vs. Spearman turned on its head!

i only save the game to reload right before i start a war. thats the only time that i save in case of reload.

I reload when I make a misclick (obviously), but I also must admit I reload when I feel something unfair happens to me. Typically when I lose a CRITICAL combat due to a very unlikely RNG fantasy.
Note that I also re-reload when reloading gives me a great leader.
A recent example: a roaming Russian warrior approaches my 7-size capital garded by an elite swordsman. They suddenly decide to declare war on me, the warrior attacks... and wins!!! (prob. 0.62%). I don't think I qualifiy as a lowly cheater for reloading that one... But then, same things happen: they attack again; only, this time they lose... and I get a MGL. So, I re-reload to avoid any bad feeling. I DO have some ethics after all. ;)

I only reload on misclicks or forgotten moves. By that I mean when I move a stack of 15 trebuchets into enemy territory then the game takes me somewhere else and I forget to wake up my muskets and med inf that were supposed to go with the trebs.

I used to reload all the time, now I never do.

Can't say either or is more fun, but reloading takes a bit out of the flow of the game, and in later eras means you have to waste more of your real life trying to redo something in a fake world.

Since I am meticulous in my roadworking etc... that means I gotta do it all over again, and wait through the AI's turn again... no thanks.

I only reload if I mis-click and it has serious consequences (I won't reload for a minor mistake). Can only remember one instance of that, tho I might be forgetting one or two... anyway, close to never.

I never reload, but of course I have not played the more advanced levels yet so that may change when the stakes become higher.

i never reload. if the game is going horribly i'll start a new game, but never "redo" the current game.

Always save for a reload when changing government.
I can accept the chance of a conscript spearman defeating my Elite Modern Armour!!!! but having 8 turns of anarchy rather than 4 when changing governments is a big no-no.
Ok I sometimes save before a sea battle as well. Love the sound of the ENEMY sailing boat sinking.
Oh yes and I save to reload when I move up to a higher level for the first two or three games.

I should only get used to reload when I make mistakes in forming a military strategy conquering the enemy territory. I know this seems to be an exploit, same thing goes for those who attempt to submit their best save games in the Hall of Fame.

I tried to submit my saved game, Demigod tiny map 80% ocean pangaea as Egyptians however it didn't accepted in a Hall of Fame as I recklessly reload multiple times to correct the mistakes. I realize that doing so would mean no honor, only dastardly act.

Never. What's the point of reloading?

I reserve the right to reload early on if a core city goes into disorder and I need whatever they are building right away. One turn is huge early on. I am always fiddling with the luxury slider and sometimes I forget where it is set. I have a real life and three kids and sometimes the house is too distracting to get that all down right in the rex phase.

I usually dont reload misclicks at all.

I sometimes take what I like to call 'muligans' if I am playing a serious game or a game that is strertching my ability to play. Like if I lose a battle that I think I should have won and it leaves my military in such a state of disrepair that I think I can no lnger properly defend the empire. I will reload and not fight the battle. Or I may reload if I fail to see the writing on the wall and not give in to a demand. I might do this once or twice but if I do I do not consider it a real victory anymore and I just end up playing out the game for fun and training purposes.

Those are the three cases where I might reload, number one is the most common.

Not accidentally declaring war on your best ally in the middle of a big war and having to fight it out with them over forty turns at top WW, I suppose.

I just reload everytime i start a war and make a mistake...lol...kinda sissy like, but idk...

I play random civ, large map w/12 total civs, random age, random map. PTW. It's a LOT of fun to play a different civ every time (well, except when I get Persia twice in a row.... that's even MORE fun lol).

I have lost a few on Monarch, but have won most of them, even with bad starts. I don't reload a bad start.... that's how you get better! I'd much rather dig my way out of a bad position then milk a dominant position.

Oh, and I NEVER reload for any reason (and leave preserve random seed on, just in case I was ever tempted). NEVER. I agree with Padma..... if I misclick, that was one of my generals misinterpreting orders (and usually a dead general at that point hehehehe). I do save a game and exit, but start the game from that point.

However, to each their own. We all are only playing vs the computer, so whatever is fun for you! For me, the challenge is to learn how to win from ANY position, however bad. I am now 1-0 in Emperor using this method..... 2nd start isn't very good, but who knows?! ;)
