Yes folks, step right up and witness the amazing, the incredible - C3C BARBARIAN WHO ATTACKS A CITY!!! Come one, come all...amaze your friends...you may never see such a sight ever again!

No. My 'point' (if I actually had one) was that, in C3C, the barbarians are about as aggressive as sleepy nuns. This may be the only time I have actually seen this happen in 3 or 4 C3C epic games. They just sit around. They rarely go after workers or completely undefended cities. It'd be welcomed if a future patch 'reverted' them back to their PtW bad boy selves.

conquest games microbe, not civ3

I find the barb behavior very strange as well.

In one and the same game (Mesopotamia as Egypt on Emperor) I hat a 'barb uprising' stack aggressively attack my city - and then, some turns later, saw a whole stack of barb riders (obviously left over from that same uprising) just sitting in their camp - only 3 tiles away from my new city! They just sat there all the rest of the game!

In the epic game, the barbs rarely attack even on 'raging' - most of them just sit in their camps and wait to be harvested by the Mayan Javelin Throwers for instance...

Raise their stats, and I bet they'll lose some of the inhibitions. I imagine they don't make suicide attacks.

I notice this strange barbarian behavior. I had about thirty barbarian horseman come out of nowhere but for some strange reason, only ten of them attacked the city and the rest just pillaged my area or go somewhere else.

If you recall correctly it was said that 'improvements' had been made to the barbarians to make them less organised and more chaotic. I would think it much of a risk to be this is the side effect.

You do know you can set the level of barb aggressiveness in the preferences panel? From sedendary to raging, or no barbs at all.

I haven't seen this - barbarians in my experience have no problem attacking my cities - though I have seen strange behavior. Like in Conquest I the barbarians at the borders. There seems to be a lookout barbarian who, if encountered or bested summons a stack of other barbarians to your location to deal with the threat - but then they stay back where they came from! By design no doubt. There is one region in the bottom right of that map where there is a lookout barb which if you attack, seems to unleash a stack of barbs to chase you wherever you go.
