Check to see if your zip code is eligible. But yeah, I ordered one. I figure even if it goes on sale locally for ten bucks off (highly unlikely) there's still nearly five bucks in taxes.

So what the heck.

My Amazon confirmation said the delivery was free for next Tue- 30060.
It is my understanding Amazon asked UPS/FedEx to hold it until the release day like Apple did the iPad.

I ordered it from Amazon with release day delivery. When it arrives and I install it, will Steam automatically load?

Do I have the option of installing Steam now, or anytime before I get CiV, and will that save some time when the game does arrive?

You can go to Steam's site and install Steam now if you don't already have it. You download a small internet installer which then downloads and installs Steam. There's some loading/updating and account creation involved so it'd be a good idea to knock it out ahead of time, IMO - saves you a few steps when you actually wanna install and fire up the game quick.

In my experience, "release day" delivery almost never arrives on release day.

I agree - got burnt by amazon w/ Civ4 - so I went down to my local gamespot and reserved a copy for $5 - will pick it up on the way home from work on release day - although I feel a cold coming on... :king:
