I doubt nVidia is going anywhere, if anything nVidia and Intel might stike a deal to counter the AMD-ATI merger. Which would mean trouble for the new company, as AMD has lost the performance crown (to Intel Conroe processors) and ATI hasn't had it for awhile in terms of GPU's.
Intel won't be getting with nVidia anytime soon, they have their own booming chipset business, were even planning to come out with their own chipsets that supported both SLI and Crossfire (dunno how that's going though).
Besides, nForce chipsets have been almost exclusively for AMD CPUs.
