If you've made the switch and saved, I don't think @techumseh will have to do it. This isn't a parameter that is different for each tribe.

Professor, is this the same set of files you gave us for the Brown Man's Burden scenario? If not, please direct me to the download. Thanks.

John, we have company for the next few days, so my turnaround will be longer. I will try to play at least one turn/day.

    Minor skirmishes in northern Virginia.

I made the change to the tech paradigm. I did this after playing my turn. My tech rate went from 11 turns to 5. Is this more in line with what you were expecting?

The event file was on page 2, but, just in case it isn't completely clear, JPetroski made the change, so you don't have to worry about it.

You set it to 15? Should be OK. Take your turn and let's compare notes. Otherwise, no news.

My tech rate is still faster (5 per turn rather than the 11 before the switch) so I think we're good. I've never played this before - is it detrimental that we were going slower for a few turns or should we be OK? I'm inclined to say we each had some numpties in the universities initially, but am unfamiliar with the design and if it'll cause major issues.

By the way - I do enjoy the huge map and amount of maneuver available. I'm sure once things heat up that is going to make for a very interesting time indeed!

It should be fine. Things are a little behind, but it should level out after a few turns.

I'm glad you like the map. Very large maps don't work very well for single player games because the AI can't handle them, but they are great for multi-player games. It makes recon vital, and gives cavalry its true value. Ships and boats are useful as well for that, given their very high MFs. I played two games with McMonkey a few years back (He won both of them), and we had great fun. It's big, fairly simple, and I think it hits all the key historical strategic notes.

General Grant crosses the Ohio River! 7-8 Rebel militia and regulars routed at the second battle of Evansville. 2 Union infantry lost.

Any losses in the Virginia fighting?

Pursuit of the enemy after the 2nd Battle of Evansburg nets another rebel militia unit. A recon in force south of Alexandria routs another 2. Two Union warships are lost after attempting shore bombardment (Hint: it's not a great idea).

Sorry - I'm used to having a report function - I'll try and be better about saying what was killed. It think I killed one of your infantry in Virginia and I lost a militia near Grant's offensive.

Heavy fighting in northern Virginia and along Grant's campaign

Virginia: I lose 3x units (I think 1x militia, 2x regulars) - you lose I believe 1x militia (baggy pants?) and 1x regular
    Grant: 3x Union groups lost

I assume the Virginia cavalry near Chambersburg was also lost?
