I’ve been trying to complete the American UHV making historically justified desicions. Currently I have been getting stuck behind in the tech race, being no where close to having all the wonders by 1950. It seems that balancing Military build up and science is crucial foundation wise, if anyone has some good openers please lmk. I have found GP management is very important as well
As far as UHV 1

England: I typically declare war on England conquering Toronto, St Johns, and Bridgetown (War of 1812) although it gets really annoying when they found Vancouver

France: I am usually able to get New Orleans in a congress, although I think there should be some coding to really make that an option earlier. I find it ahistorical to conquer it, considering close ties between France and early US. However taking a gamble on MAYBE getting New Orleans in the Mid 1800s is very slowing. There should be a congress in the 1800s decade, with options for Russia to settle Alaska, Spain for California and US for New Orleans. Later congresses can allow for US to get Alaska, as for Haiti, it seems reasonable for an invasion if still under European Control in the 1800s

Mexico: Mexican American war as soon as I can DOW and am finished with England, requires lots of troops, have had some runs where I get decimated by Cav and Grenadiers. otherwise taking Monterrey and Mexico City, are simple.

Spain: Spanish American War late 1800s straight forward.

I have also gotten curious of ways to collapse France or Spain to make some Islands independent

UHV 2: I have been trying to get the perfect set up for Techs and it goes sort of like Biology, Metallurgy, Labour Unions to open. I usually pop a GS who can help bulb Biology as well as other techs, after a GE to rush Statue of Liberty. I have toyed with building Ironworks and a Levee in New York to help build Wonders, but maybe it is wiser for New York to be the Commerce hub and Washington to have Ironworks and to just pop GE's out of Washington. Other than that lmk some good paths to Consumerism, Infrastructure, and Power Projection. Bonus points if we can get Film too for Hollywood.

UHV 3: it seems like the Meta was invade Europe but with the New Version It is worth looking into. I think with a Nato like defensive pact, strategic wars and espionage attempting too collapse and damage rival economy. I am not opposed to allying with Russia or China depending on game situations. But i am open to suggestions on how to manage these things diplomatically and Intellegence wise. As well as tips for making the American Machine run at full economic and military potential.

I think city specialization can be important as most can be separated into Commerce and Military production. Some like Chicago have have a little both but lmk what you guys think.

Commerce: New York, Chicago, LA, New Orleans Seattle, Boston (sorta) Charleston ( sorta)
Production: Washington, Denver, Detroit, Alburqurque (sorta)

I suggest to never declare on England. 75% power and commerce is a pretty tall order and you need to plan for allies from day one. It is not very historical only for the very beginning, but for the rest of the game Special Relationship is very historical and will help you in a long run. Canadian cities will flip to Canada eventually, why fight over them, it's also not historical to capture them. Use them to spy on British instead!

Placement of National Wonders is very important for America. I have used my first Great Engineer to build an Ironworks in NYC and moved my Palace there. Invested all my start up gold into Big Apple. Bureaucracy, Clergy, Ironworks, access to Copper, and the fact that no one is running Democracy in early 19th century secures you the Lady Liberty.

P.S. @Leoreth Do you happen to know why ESB only grants 23 gold for the size 30 city, please?

I made an attempt with the US at 1.18 release but quickly gave up (tech rates were too unbalanced, I lost United Nations to the Germans in 1850).

I still need more babysitting tho:
-1700 AD start still has wacky tech rates, isn't it? I did try Canada recently but gave up when i lost Chateau Frontenac to the Germans few turns after spawn. Should I go for the 3000 BC start ?
-how do you balance out the need to spam workers and the issue with cities starting with no happiness?
-cottaging or farms? I normally would cottage everything but the new UP means I need food to sustain immigration.
-DoW on Mexico immediately after spawn?

The current state of America with almost no happiness and immigration keeping your cities always unhappy just asks for despotism.

I usually cottage as much as possible around New York and Core and Farm most of the Midwest, maybe a farm north of New York to help. That way Chicago grows massive and Denver can survive.

I declare war on Mexico as soon as their protection window goes down

Tech costs for late game are too low. Regardless of starting date, someone else would build Chateau Frontenac before Canada gets a chance to build it.

In my game on 1.18 I DoW Mexico in order to found Texas. Close to historical date. They were pretty easy to vassalize.
