Amina (Warrior-Queen of Zazzau)

The warrior queen Amina rose to power when the trade routes of the Sahara began to provide access to a larger and larger world. A callous and single-minded conqueror, she led the Hausa people on a campaign of expansion across the precolonial Sahel, and she was said to take a lover in every city she vanquished, only to kill him in the morning. In uniting the lands, Amina conquered according to her own fashion – with a sword, not a man, at her side.

I think the choice to use bold font for gameplay terms was wise, but here we can see it's not being used consistently I think? Specifically, it seems like "Cities" should be bolded as it's a gameplay term and is bolded in Hatshepsut's text.

Maybe they're just kind of free-forming it and don't have a strict style guideline for it.

From what we've been told about how resources work, Amina's +1 Resource Capacity looks considerably stronger than other leaders' abilities we've seen without even taking into account the gold and combat bonuses.

Will the promotion trees of each leader be unique? It will be hard to compare the leaders from face value (the UA) alone if so.

So are these bonuses unique to her, or do they come from the Economic, Militaristic traits?

Edit: probably not, both Augustus and Ashoka are Expansionist but have different bonuses

Traits I think are meant to be just helpful keywords for new players to know approximately what each leader are good at, AND are associated with the skill trees in that they get points in those trees faster than in the other ones. I don’t think it has much to do with the abilities themselves. Consider Hatshepsut and her Building/Wonder production bonus next to Navigable Rivers. Seems too specific to her as a leader of Egypt to work for a any leader with her equivalent traits.

It doesn't look like to me the promotion trees are unique.

not that it would’ve been good design (and i’m actually slightly appreciative of this), but it is weird for civs to have a laundry list of abilities and then leaders have 1 short one

i t why they’ve done it (needs to be applicable for all civs, over all of the game, make civs feel more immersive when you play them for less time), but it *feels* weird

Well, technically "Civ abilities" are all really short too. Maya for instance is: "The Palace gains Science for adjacent Vegetated tiles."

The rest of what you are referring to is everything else that makes up their kits (uniques, infrastructure, traditions/civics, etc.).

yeah that’s moreso what i meant. the civs seem to have 6-7 unique things each, leader page has got one two-liner and that’s it

not at all a bad thing, to be clear, but very interesting.

The leaders develop though, whereas the civs don't.
The new abilities for the leaders will probably somehow be fitted to their base abilities. I'd therefore consider this to be mostly an indicator for the player how to best play this character, together with the options which you will get.

ah i didn’t realize this, so the page will end up filling out, i suppose.

it would be cool if the abilities they pick up in each era are somehow inspired by the civs you choose, though i don’t know how practical this would be in execution—like a hatshepsut who goes mongol could have her exploration bonuses affected by that choice.

You get bonuses to your leader based on how you play (getting closer to Age 1 "science victory" gives you more Science Leader points)

ok that's quite nice. I like how that might play out

Well, my opinion hasn't changed since the first showcase - I'm pretty sure this is who I'm going with for my first game. And then after that the extra resource slot might end up being tough to give up.
Of all the leader abilities we've seen so far, I like her's the best as well.

What is Zazzau??? I'm completely lost here... Is it a unique civ???
Queen of Zazzau is an adjective... a tribe... a civ... ???
