Amina (Warrior-Queen of Zazzau) - Leader Discussion

Oh there looks to be a shot of walls made of wooden logs? Not quite a palisade I think, they are laid flat instead of sticking out of the ground, but it’s new gfx

I think her agenda is the best among the Pachacuti-ish agendas.

In the Antiquity Age, she indeed will behave as a warmonger. Because the plain is one of the most common terrain types, so many rival Leaders will settle on it. And the plain terrain usually lay over the huge continuous area in each continent, so Amina will be a great conquorer who dominate her Home Land. But in the Exploration Age, she will be the peaceful merchant who collect the resourses for her empire. Because she will likely be the one who already has the most settlements on plain and dessert, there is no agenda to lead her to hate the rivals in the Distant Land.

Oh right, i forgot America had their fake holiday tomorrow.

I did expect Amina to be revealed next, but doesn't this also suggest there's no Polynesian leader? At least nobody for Hawai'i specifically (yet).

Looks like we're heading towards the Modern Era next for our first looks and civ reveals. Exciting!

Amina's agenda focuses too much on fighting others instead of working together. In the future, we need leaders who value teamwork and respect, especially in tough environments like deserts. Her dislike for others who share her space goes against the idea of building a better, more united world.

*All the warmongers in the room make furtive eye contact with each other–a tacit acknowledgement that they will all be united just long enough to drag you from your throne. After that, only the strongest will be able to claim parts of your would-be empire of friendship.*

Less excited for this one as I’m not an aggressive player.

Anyone with sharp eyes notice anything new in this reveal?
Other than new building models not seen before, desert looks different. Flat desert now seems more sandy but there's also a variant that is more grassy, kinda like Oasis tiles but without Oasis; Like Sage Brush Savannah but without sage brush vegetation.

Is it Flat Plains?

The warmongers may drag me from my throne, but as they squabble over the scraps of my 'empire of friendship,' they’ll find it far harder to rule the ashes of a world without trust.

Slightly off-putting how the blurb proudly boasts that she used to murder her lovers for no particular reason. She don't need no man!
As the pundit said:

"The problem with women is you cannot fall into their arms
without falling into their hands."

No, it's definitely still a variant of desert. The texture seems to be the same as for desert tiles with features.

Timber fortifications are assumed to all be palisades by anyone who has seen any western movie. In fact, most of the US Army posts in the west did not have any walls around them of any kind, and the vertical-post palisade is just one of several types of timber or timber-based fortifications. Among the most complex were the Gaulic/Briton hill forts composed of grids of logs laid flat and then filled in with earth and stone. The logs kept the whole thing together, but were very difficult to pull out of burn while the forts in some cases were huge, covering whole hill tops and acres of ground, with the walls arranged to funnel attackers into 'killing grounds' where slingers could work them over from the heights.

Perhaps it failed to load a feature layer on those tiles? Or maybe they are Rough Desert.

Amina is such a wonderful addition to the series, my favourite revealed leader so far next to returning Charlemagne

She's also the first time Nigeria got featured in the series beyond the occasional city state - finally, seeing how within borders of this country there have been many of the most refined civilizations in African history.

I'm only upset we didn't get to actually play as her people of Hausa, instead returning to Songhai for a second time (and to the western Sahel for the fourth time). It's hard for me to understand this decision - Hausa would have covered all niches of Songhai while also bringing something new and fresh to the table, plus it'd have its leader in the game. Any ideas why Songhai was chosen again, instead of us getting Hausa the civ to accompany its leader?

It seems FXS wanted to represent as many as possible nations with the limited list of Civs and Leaders. Reminding about SEA, we got Khmer(mainly Cambodia), Majapahit(Indonesia), Siam(Thai) and Trung Trac(Vietnam).

I'd consider the Hausa to possibly be a Modern Age civ, which could eventually come from the Songhai. That would have made more sense than Buganda, but that would have left Central Africa empty.
