This year, the History Channel has put forth incredible evidence that aliens have been responsible for: Greek fire, the Moon, the bubonic plague, Japan's suicide forest, French victory in the Hundred Years War, the rise of the United States, zombies, vampires, and much more.

So, in you guys' opinions, how much credibility does the ancient astronaut hypothesis have? What's the best (or at least most un-ridiculous) piece of evidence put forth by its proponents?

What are some other things on Earth that could have been influenced or created by extraterrestrial intelligence? (besides Giorgio's hair)

Nil to Negative infinity.

Just about zero.

Out of all the supposed "evidence" ever presented by Ancient Astronaut theorists, the only thing that ever impressed me was Lord Pacal's sarcophagus lid.

All things are possible, but 'ancient astronauts' is highly unlikely with essentialy zero percent chance of it having actualy happened.

Oh hey, I didn't know the Mayans were into brutal death metal.

Wait a second!

David Icke found out that the world is under control of secret Reptilian creatures of malicious intent.

No-one knows who the Fyromians are or where they come from, but they manipulate everything and cause havoc wherever they show up.

Ancient aliens.

Either this is a strange coincidence or-

Nazis, Cowboys, other stuff...

Why do they think aliens wanted gold, and why would they come to us for it, there are many other planets that are packed filled with it.

i think they also stopped zeng he from discovering the americas.

Zheng He totally discovered America. He defeated the aliens at the Battle of Chichen Itza, and chased them to the Moon after which the aliens joined forces with Alexander the Great who planned to conquer China at the head of a Slavic army, only to be defeated by a Chola-Masonic alliance.

Sounds only marginally less plausible than a fyromian theory according to which the world is divided tothree races: the fyromian (macedonian -sic-) the negroid and the mongoloid.

That theory sounds identical to the 19th Century European theory of races - replacing Macedonian with a more general European.

There was a book called Chariots of the Gods, which is about the idea of ancient astronauts, and it ended up inspiring the film Stargate. One of the things the book mentions is the idea that the pyramids were created to preserve knowledge as their builders were warned by the aliens of the coming Great Flood.

Their evidence is indeed incredible, as in, not credible.

The History Channel stopped covering history a long time ago and now focuses of hicks, pawn shops, truckers, and pseudoscience.

What evidence?

None, and none.

Pop culture.

I loved Carl Sagan's comment on Erich Von Däniken's "Chariots of the Gods". He said that,
"Von Däniken's basic premise was: Look at the amazing things that these ancients did. Now, I'm a smart guy, and if I can't figure out how they did it neither could they. It must have been ancient astronauts."
