I wonder if Dan Quayle is offended by firaxis' choice to make him the lowest leadership rank. I don't think he is any worse than Bush, and firaxis shouldn't put a living person in that slot.

I guess it's more of a civ tradition, and if nothing's been said for all the years since civ1, I woundn't think that he would say anything now, and anyway, I'm sure that he has endured worse things by the media.

I don't understand, a lot of what he said that was used to proclaim him and idiot was either misquoted or completely fabricated.

I never was a Dan fan but he gets a lot of treatment such as Bush does. I found it ironic that all the talk of how "intelligent" John Kerry was compared to Bush until his transcrips got released and Bush had a higher GPA.

There is some correlation between intelligence and GPA, but that's not necessarily true.
In any case, whether Kerry is smarter than Bush or not, I think some more Americans now figures that what Bush does isn't a good thing. Writing that carte blanche to the NSA for unwarranted wiretapping isn't going to comfort the Americans.

....holy crap! A cIV forumer has more information than the government does about what happened with the wiretapping!

Don't believe everything you read. You are stating something as a fact that hasn't even been investigated yet, and was brought to light, by Democrats, largely to depress the story of Iraq's extremely successful elections. It's not a coincidence that both stories hit on the same day.

I mean, what is the guy supposed to do? Democrats rip him for not "connecting the dots" on 9/11, then, when he tries to take proactive steps to make sure something like that doesn't happen again, now he's the Gestapo? Damn, I am sick of uninformed and ignorant people making judgements based on what they hear on the 6:30 news!

Ahh, the power of spin! As if there isn't plenty of video showing both Bush and Quaile proving that they are idiots that you can see for yourself.

It's the stuff you don't hear on the news that makes me a confirmed and proud democrat. I can't see how anyone would offer any words of support to the current government.

Most people could not give a rats arse about if his or her telephone calls are tapped. They can listen to mine all day long but it wold be a waste of time, this was nothing out of the ordinary, they have done the same thing for years while combatting organized crime..ala the mob.

I could die a happy man if I ever made the civ list of leaders... even if it was the last place :)

The power of snopes is a better one. There is enough idiot responses by every politician whether it be one with a D by the name or an R, it only becomes a problem when one focuses on one letter.

Ok, even though I hate him, this is not a bush bashing thread. I'm just saying its offensive for civ to make fun of a living person like that. Can;t dan quayle sue firaxis if he wanted to?

Except for the fact that Bush admitted doing it publicly, and is pretty pissed that people called him on it. How Presidential of him.
Read it.

Funny how people have to bash BUSH. I wish they would put this in the off topic thread now. The discussion about Qual was interesting but the Bush haters have to chirp in about everything.

I really come here to read about the game not about the polictial views.

If Quayle was going to sue, he'd have done so back in Civ1 (or was it 2?), where he was also the last place leader (below Nero!). Some people need to stop being idiots and borrowing trouble where none exists.

yeah cause if you aren't doing anything wrong you've got nothing to worry about!

until they misinterpret something you say. or decide that something you do is evil and a threat to our national security, then it's off to Guantanamo for you. ever heard of something called the "slippery slope"?
