Hey guys, not too good at this game, but I am in 1980, 10 cities, all with over 20 population, all is going well, no city angry or sick, then out of the blue, 6 cities have +20 angry people saying the world hates me or something like that. It never said if it was the work of a spy or not, it actually took one of my cities from 22 to 1!
What the heck happend?
thanks

Did you vote 'NEVER' on a UN resolution? (The world considers you a villain)

Could be 1980s pop music.

+20 angry people? That could be the result of defying a resolution, emancipation or spies repeatedly causing angry people in your city.

If you are defying a resolution, it must be a pretty good reason. In case you don't understand, when you defy a resolution, the resolution will fail no matter what. If you vote no, no votes from you will go towards the resolution, and yes, well that's self-explanatory.

If emancipation is killing your cities, either use the culture slider to get happienss, or switch to emancipation.

If its spies, increase your espionage and station a spy in each city to stop them.

well that will do it, i defied almost every stupid un resolution, did not realize the repercutions...

Sounds like you're goal is one of the peaceful victories. In that case, you should be running all of the top civics except for environmentalism - free speech, emancipation, free religion, and universal sufferage. Instead of environmentalism run state property. By doing all of this you'll have the most happiness, gold, and research possible. One possible exception might be that you'll run pacifism instead of free religion if you're trying for a cultural victory because pacifism doubles your great person generation. If you're way late in the game and going to attempt a conquest/domination, you might run vassalage, theocracy, and police state. But generally run those higher-end civics as soon as you can in peaceful games.

Out of curiosity, what was so horrible that you were continually defying? As opposed to the often infuriating Apostolic Palace, most of the UN resolutions are pretty good. It doesn't sound like you were planning to nuke everyone.

Possible; some songs were actually Cold War weapons tests. Claire and Friends "It's Horrible Being In Love When You're 8 1/2" may have been the most horrible weapon devised by man (and the perfect karaoke song to torture annoying Brits in London). :D

EDIT: Heck, if I'm going to reference it, I might as well share it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCdhMN1ZCO8

Yep, that'll do it. :goodjob:

I remember that song, thankfully my sound card doesn't work.

Some 80s pop was OK but most was dire. 80s pop and Thatcher wasn't a great combo to grow up with.

Better than Pussycats Dolls/Britney/50 cent combo. Anything has to be. Anyway, that is off-topic! :D
