Chapter 9: Cat or Raccoon?
“Cat!”
“Raccoon!”
“Cat!”
“Raccoon!”
It was a frenzy. With the deaths of
Bonbon and
Raymond, the town has been thrown into sudden chaos. One of the town’s loudest voice proclaimed that he saw a “cat” kidnap
Raymond into the dead of the night, whereas another proclaimed that they saw a “raccoon” giving a big package to
Bonbon (and Bonbon loves packages!) which was supposed to be the big ax that they her carry with her, the source of gossip and Bonbon’s demise.
“Why not just kill them both! We all knew someone saw them! Kill them Both!”
“Now, now friends, let’s not be too hasty. As they say in ..wherever they say it…Innocent until proven Guilty!” said the ever smug Blathers…
The cat and raccoon both loudly protested their innocence throughout the day, though suspicion of being Nook's agents continued to mount on them. Eventually, it was decided that a democratic vote would be held on their exile.
“Well, well,well, why don’t we go for a vote?” Blathers began to produce stacks of papers and stationary and museum pens… ”After all, it is our duty to ensure justice is performed.”
One by one, the islanders began to take pieces of paper and scribble the name of the islander who they believe committed the worst crime ever, betrayal. But as we all know, betrayal here just means being the wrong animal in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“This is absurd. You cannot just do it like this. Where’s your proof?” exclaimed the cat.
“This is the proof!” exclaimed Blathers. In his hands are photos. Photos of parts of the severed paws of
Bonbon and stomach-slashed corpse of
Raymond. Everyone gasped! While most had already had seen
Raymond's body already, it still remained a brutally gory sight.
“Enough is enough!” one of the islanders hurried “Let us do the count!”
“Rac 1, Rac 2, Rac 3, Rac 4, Rac 5, and finally, as our last vote, Cat 1”
Rakkoon was left speechless by the landslide outcome, so sure that we would survive the day that he hadn't considered his other options.
“Bring forth the punishment!”
And with that, a small forces of paws and limbs subdued the islander,
Jacques, with one of them wrapping a length of string around his body.
At the end of the string is…..a Red Balloon.
“Ha ha ha…Is that it? A red Balloon? What ? Do you want me to just go run around and trip until I die? Haha. I knew you guys cannot possibly kill an innocent pers-----!"
And with that, the Red Balloon suddenly pulled him so high into the air that
Jacques was left speechless. Even Blathers was stunned by the effectiveness of the punishment thus far, though birds do have hollow bones and less dense bodies, so it did make sense.
“Whoooooooooooooooa” everybody can hear the bellows of
Jacques while holstered up in the air.
Blathers pressed a small button on a box. It says only one thing: "Giant Fan".
Out of the museum's observatory, seemingly from within the telescope, the islanders can hear the assemblence of a machine. It seems almost like a transformer. As it completes it's assembly it activates, and with that Jacques flew away until they can only see an outline of a red dot and a shaking shape of a Rakkoon from literal miles away. Perhaps he'll get lucky and land on, or fly to, another island, but he isn't coming back to this island anytime soon.
After that bit of murderous fun, to celebrate their survival the "cat" organized a "Coolest Cat" contest. It was a tight vote between
Hollowkatt and
Winston Hughes, but
Hollowkatt narrowly edged his opponent out. As a prize, he got to be first in line to open the
Lost and Found Box. I wonder what he got...

Jacques - Vanilla Town
You thought as a bird capable of flying that if things went south that you could hop from island to island all the way back to non-Nook Inc. controlled civilization, and signed up for this trip thinking it was safe. Of course, by "things going south" you thought that that would entail a hurricane or tropical depression, not being stranded. Worst of all, the archipelago is MUCH larger than you thought it would be, with a much greater distance between islands than you thought there would be. Now, you have to work with you fellow islanders to escape.
