Earlier last month (last month being august 2005), my mom reformated my computer in order to get rid of stuff that had infected me.

Now, for some reason, smilies that are supposed to be animated are not doing anything.

anyone know why?

I think I used to have that problem in Opera when I used that. Not in IE or Firefox though. Which browser are you using?

Firefox, mainly.

Is animations from anywhere not playing properly, or only from certain sites, or certain times? If the image is not completly downloaded, you will most likely only see its first frame - resulting in a still image.

If you have a GIF in your harddrive, drag it into your FireFox window. It should play the animation. That should rule out the possibility that your FireFox installation is malfunctioning...
