OK. I've DL'd this and scanned with AVG. Everything seems to be on the up and up. I'm not sure what the deal is with this but it says FREE. The program usually costs 39.99 or something retail. Granted this may just be a 30 day trial version but it hasn't said anything about a 30 day trial. So I'm guessing this is a free version. There is no prompt for a CD key.

I paid for the program a couple years back and now I may have lost it to my virus infected storage drive. So in desperation I checked for a free copy. This is what I found.

As a unit maker I find animation shop absolutely indispensible in testing unit animations before doing FLCs as well as doing the previews for them. TopGun if you're out there I know you didn't have this one a while ago. This may be a good opportunity to give it a try. Like I say I couldn't imagine doing a unit without the aid of Animation Shop. I've especially found it handy in experimenting with new animations and what not. This is the site where I found the link:

[no this isn't a joke. I did a google search and found the link to the free version on a message board called jokeroo and it seems to work for real.]

If anyone encounters any problems please let me know. I'm curious why this is apparently being offered for free.

Worth trying .. d/l, have used an older version before so see if this is better and easier.

Hey, thanks for posting this. I downloaded, installed, and ran the program without any mention of a trial period. I remember using it some years back during the free trial period, and I had really considered buying it. If nothing else, it's handy to have around.

Cool! I'm glad I could be of some service to the unit maker who made the tutorial which got me started on Poser!

Thank you again for such a wonderful tutorial! :)

Considering that Animation Shop 3 came bundled with Paint Shop Pro v7 (which came out in 2000), I'm not surprised that they're offering it for free. Good program though, and one that I've been using for almost 10 years now. :)

Unfortunately I have an OEM version of PSP X2 which didn't come with Animation Shop. So I ended up paying $40 for Animation Shop 3 seperately. :(

EDIT: IIRC I think PSP X2 was fairly inexpensive for me though.

You could also test them with the unit editor of my game.

It can load FLC, display them with a background, check centering, allows some civ colour checks, and it could also be used to check scale.

Hmmm... Should I release the latest version of this editor somewhere? It's a bit more complicated to install, as it requires XNA.

noiiiiiice!

Wow. I also have used the previous 30-day trial version... If this really is totally free version, then I might be interested in trying some more leaderheads again. I know, pov-ray sucks quite nicely in Leaderheadmaking, but that's not going to stop me. That is, if I'll start first

Thanks.

Weird though... I bought the paint shop pro X a couple of years ago, and the animation shop wasn't included - which was a bit disapointing. Even more so now, when Hikaro said that it was included in an older VII-version...

I, too, was always discouraged from leaderhead making because I couldn't do it by myself but would have to request help from someone else. Who knows, maybe now I'll make one if I find the time.
