Anno 117 just released a short gameplay showcase trailer on YouTube:

They also did this live stream on twitch talking a bit about the game and some new things it was going to bring to the franchise, and a new live stream more in detail about the gameplay will come out in two days, and have released 6 dev blogs so far.

It is planned to be released this year, on PC (both steam at deam 1 and Ubisoft's own store, PS5 and XBOX XS)

One game I have been hyped about since I got to play 1800 about 2 years ago. Enjoyed it so much that have been looking for something similar but without much luck (tried the older anno but found hard to get into them when the new one has so much improvements for quality of life stuff compared with the older ones, and Kaiserpunk while quite similar also didn't really get me hooked), so really looking forward to this new one and the new changes they mentioned so far.

Anyone else here looking forward to this game?

I'm very much looking forward to this game. I love Anno 1800 and playing CivCity: Rome was my childhood. I'm glad the Anno team are bringing something that feels like a remaster of the latter haha

There is now a demo for Anno 117 available, for the next 2 weeks (Sept 16). You can download it via Steam, Epic or Ubisoft Connect here.
The demo requires the Ubisoft launcher, it includes Denuvo and has a 1h time limit.
You can play as the Romans on the British Isles (or Albion, as called in the game).
The full game is expected to release November 13.

Played all the older Anno games except the two 'science fiction' ones (didn't have a PC when they came out!) and Anno 1800 was my 'go to' game after I ran out of serous interest in Civ VI several years ago. I've already pre-ordered Anno 117 because this company knows what they are doing and does some very playable and graphically gorgeous games.

For those unfamiliar, they are a cross between City Builder and Empire Builder, in that the 'empire' is a trading one, not a military one so much. It plays on a much lower time and distance scale than Civ but has, IMHO, more depth and variety and some serious narrative threads woven through it.

The game comes out in late November, almost simultaneously with Europa Universalis 5, so by Thanksgiving I expect to be neck-deep in Rome or the Renaissance . . .

A great many people on this Forum are going to love this:

The principle complaints about the Anno 117 Demo after a single day are:

* The UI sucks. Then they go on for page after page on what they don't like, and it turns out in many cases what they don't like is that it is not the old familiar Anno 1800 UI. There are, however, buried in the Reddirants, some very valid complaints about how the UI looks and functions and one of the development team has already posted that they want more specifics on what people don't like so they can work on them.

* The UI might suck, but a 1 hour demo is not long enough: people want more time to plan, explore, and build. This is probably a sign that the gamers in general can overlook the UI if the game plays as well in the long run as Anno 1800 does.

But the complaints about the UI have a distinctly "Civ VII-ish" feel about them, the difference being that they are coming from a Pre-Release Demo and not After Release, and that the development team is actively monitoring them and asking for more specifics that they can work to correct. Firaxis, please take note.

That´s a nice homage to the legendary Civ 2 advisors. :)
