Great Prophet has been like this for 1000s of years.

Perhaps claimed by a civilisation I killed? (Egypt)
Makes founding a Religion sort of..... impossible =/

No, never passed on a Great Prophet. (the Great Scientist was a pass, but that was made long after the Prophet got locked out).

It might be Saladin. I read a bug somewhere stating he keeps the claim on the last prophet even if completely wiped out of the game before grabbing one.

I've just come across this bug playing as Germany. I conquered Arabia early in the game and was not able to recruit a Great Prophet. 3/4 religions were already established, none of which belonged to Arabia. I also presume this is due to Arabia's special ability that guarantees a Great Prophet. Build version is 1.0.0.26(221715).
