I have searched the forums looking to solve a problem I am having doing dot maps, but cannot find an answer.

The problem is that when I zoom out to the global view, my grid layout hardly show. On dot maps done by other people you can clearly see the grid layout. I have gone into the options screen and tried different set-ups but nothing works. Any ideas?

take a look at the attached file and you will see what I mean.

Thanks

I had the same problem when Warlords came out. The gridlines worked fine in Vanilla whatever graphics settings you have but not Warlords and BtS.

I have all my graphics set on the maximum possible setting, then turned globe view to medium detail.

This worked for me, hope it works for you.

Sorry if this double-posts...

Assuming you have the lines on, Warlords screwed up this graphics thing. It appears to be back to normal in BTS, at least in Sisutil's games. Whatever.

Try zooming in a bit more, and if need be go into paint and find a few visible lines, and re draw the rest in black in relation to normal spacing, etc.

just want to close out this thread.

I didn't realize that I had not upgraded to patch 3.13. Once I did I was able to see the gridslines while in global view.

Oh also I downloaded Bhruic's patch (or mod). One of these solved the problem for me.

Now I can dot map to my heart's content.

thanks for the help!!!

Here you go:
Open your civilization.ini file and look for a line that says:
; Allow Camera Flying
AllowFlying = 0

Change that to:
; Allow Camera Flying
AllowFlying = 1

In game hit ... hmm ... ctrl+f or something like that (been a while) and you can then use the mouse wheel to zoom in and across the map. It's fiddly, but, well ... yeah.

Thanks a lot. it works with Ctrl-F and Alt-F
But from what I've read and seen, if you have the resource-button on when taking the picture, the camera misses out on the resources to the far north and far south.

Hope this solves your problem.

EDIT: And at the same time I posted this, you went ahead and solved your problem by patching :D
