I was wondering about something. Having more territory means more points. Have you have only a few opponents it is possible to get more points. Is this true? I was wondering about this, because otherwise it would be unfair in the Civ3 HOF.

Righto. Perhaps someone who's an expert on scoring or participates in the HOF can tell you how much you can actually gain & what guidelines/rules they use. The other thing that doesn't factor in on scoring is Map Size or Land Coverage.

It also can add to your score because it's also based on your # of happy/content/specialist people.

So basically if you're going for a high score its good to have minimum number of civs, largest map, and most land coverage?

Oh, and in addition to that, 5 billion years, wet, and warm would be best for maximum population right?

That's right. Huge map/8 civs/ pangea/ 60%water/5 billion/ wet/warm would be the most ideal situation. Number of civs is debatable. IMHO with fewer civs on such a huge map, they spend more time still in the expansion phase thus easier to attack. But when you get down to the last civ they end up with such a large territory it takes awhile to conquer them. But with 16 civs (like Sirpleb used for his deity score), you have 16 civs improving the territory around their capital, so each civ will be smaller, but when you have their land it will be more improved.

There is a minimum number of opponents one must include (for each map size) if intending to submit to the HOF. Whether the minimum or maximum is best probably depends on your method of winning. I think if you're trying for early conquest then minimum number of civs would be best.

Speaking of high scores , how many points do you need to achieve the highest rank , cause i just got 14518 as the chinese and got the second highest rank. I hope it isnt 15000....

I don't know, I think it depends on difficulty level. On Regent I had 10,000+ pts and I got the highest ranking.

Wow! 10,000...15,000 points??

I am in the presence of greatness. Would you two mind if I used your names as mantras? Egads!
The most I have gotten so far, in over a month of playing, is 3,500 (Regent, Large, 12 civs). I felt so proud to finally be dubbed clever, now I feel cheesier than ever, heh.

Well, back to the drawing board.

Dont feel so bad mate , there is a trick to getting a massive score 10K+ ....all you do is pick an industrious civ, tiny map, deity. start pumping out archers whilst researching towards horseman. Try to take out a civ with your archers which should be just in time to build horses. Use population to rush horseman/archers if nessesary. Oh and most importantly, you have to build a barracks.
so yeah, kill all the civs BC and you should get 10K+points.
Yeah i know its a bit cheap and pretty easy to do but i wanted to see what the highest rank was. My 14518 was done with the Chinese and ended 190BC.

That should be 290BC. And for the easiest way to do it (if it wasnt easy enough) pick tiny map , normal , temperate , 5 billion years (nice and flat).
