Another question to unit modellers...

What exactly is the state of things in creating new models for units? I read here and there that 'we cant do it', but looking through an unpaked Art0.fpk, every single model has an associated .nif file, which is a gamebyro model file editable in 3dsmax/maya....soooo...why cant we edit them? :crazyeye:

Firstly, I'm pretty sure we can't edit existing files, because we only have access to .nif exporters, not importers, though I may be wrong...

As for exporting complete units, the animations are the tricky bit. While we can export static models to the game (I think), we haven't worked out how to make .kf, or .kfm files, which seem to be what controls the animations (kf = keyframe most probably). I don't know if anybody is working on it, or if we'll have to wait until the SDK, or quite what the situation is at all.

Anychace anybody else knows what the situation is?
 
I hope to God someone can make air transports and paratroopers, why on Earth did they get rid of Paratroopers? I must of missed the enlightening yet baffling reason why they got rid of them. and why no air transports after what this is the 4th civ? atleast 3 had troop transporting helos that for some odd reason are missing
