Anthony Minghella dies

The British Academy Award-winning film director of The English Patient, The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain passed away today. He was also the Chairman of the British Film Insitute from 2003 and 2007.

A true British great.

Cold Mountain was a godawful movie. Sorry if this makes me sound a jerk but I am more sad about Clarke and I didn't even know he was still alive until he died.

He died the day after I was remembering the only film I've seen of his, The Talented Mr. Ripley. A great film.

Sad day. Only made half a dozen films, but they were all cracking. Along with the OP Truley, Madly, Deeply was great and Breaking and Entering was good too.

I believe he is also a very distant relation to me.
