The tech for the Internet is Miniaturization and is not needed for a spaceship.
I think most of our cities can build a research lab with a prebuild faster than we can build the Internet. Besided researching Miniaturization will delay the construction of the Space ship by 6 (?) turns.

BTW, I had just entered Modern Age at then end of the first 4. I planned on going for Fission so my palace build can switch to UN. We can get Fission in 4 with 80% sci.

Is Fission the right tech to go for first? (I can spread my palace prebuild to last 8 turns if I need a different tech first.)

Does Fission in 4 at 80% mean anything to you guys in terms of our ability to reseach the rest of the tree in 4?

Should I bring Korea/Persia/Germany up to even in tech just on the off chance they get a freebie we want?

Hehe - we in a race now Banzai - or are we going to stop and smell a few flowers along the way?

@CF We definitely need to get fission and build the UN asap to seal up the diplo victory.

Wow! I have never played a game with this kind of research power! :hammer:
With 10 techs to go and 4 turns per tech it is possible I will be playing my last 10 turns tomorrow.. unless we want to build the internet and cure for cancer... ;)

I agee with Col. Lets get the UN build.

Yes - but we DONT want to call a vote. We're going for spaceship remember. This is just to make sure no-one else builds it and calls for a vote. Of course with our trading power, we'd probably win the vote easily. ;)

Sorry guys, I finished but the computer ate the last three turns. I'll finish them at lunch (~5hrs from now.)

Banzai, I think our massive research power comes from the FP placement on the other side of the continent. We have productive science producers on the east and west coast with all the gold mines in the mountains. It's kind of fun! Since I've never researched to the spaceship before, I'm thinking 4 turns per tech is normal but I guess from your response that it is not.

I won't have the opportunity to call the vote because we didn't start our prebuild early enough. I'll remind the next player not to vote when I hand it off.

I was looking in the destination directory before I copied the files from my game computer to my internet computer.

Since not much happening my poll is:
How much gold did I leave the next player.
A. 18952g
B. 10377g
C. 7864g
D. 2729g

Turnlog to follow shortly

Hmm.. let me see..
You used half of our 14000 gold after 5 turns (written in an earlier post). --> 7000 remaining.
80% science to get fission in 4, possibly gaining about 200 gpt.
So I think C. 7864g is the right answer.

Banzai!

(0) 1350 Rush col's end police for better happiness. Raise lux to 10% to handle our largest cities (just to make our score bigger). Move citizens to sea tiles to make room for citizens in atlanta and TC. Switch all wealth to infantry so we can rush on first turn after disbanding. Rush markets and some other things. Set Colopolis to palace for UN (available, in 10 turns, palace/UN due in 15 should have started this earlier.) Switch some buildings to culture/happiness buildings if there was a frown or not all 21 tiles were under our control. Rush with unit disband then cash.
(1)1355 Mine desert and add three workers to Colville to speed up palace build to 12 turns. Disband/cashrush market/police/docks in a bunch of places. Scientific Method to Persia for 40gpt +60g. Korea gets Combustion for 157gpt+60g. Everyone else is worthless.
(2) 1360 Motor>Flight Sci 60% due in 4. Disband most of this rounds infantry in Lost City for Uni next turn.
(3) 1365 MMOW. Disband/Cash Rush.
(4) 1370 MMOW. Disband/Cash Rush.
(5) 1375 MOW. Not that many workers left and using Shift P is an advantage. Disband/Cash Rush.
(6) 1380 MOW. Disband/Cash Rush. Flight>Fission 80% in 4. Switch tank builds to fighters for better perimeter view.
(7) 1385 MOW. Disband/Cash Rush. Rebase fighters to perimeter. Add a couple more workers to cities. We're down to single digit workers (not counting slaves) I hope I have enough to handle polution. We're down to 6000g but making 1800gpt! I want to have at least 1 Modern tech before I bring any scientific civs.
(8) 1390 MOW. Disband/Cash Rush.
(9) 1395 MOW. Disband/Cash Rush.
(10) 1400 MOW. Disband/Cash Rush. Flight>Nuclear Power 80% in 4. Switch palace to UN. Randomly chose to build Manhattan Project. Left worker moves and diplomacy to next player. Note at MINIMUM we need to renew luxury deals with Japan, Germany and Persia. This may be a good time to bring them up to the modern age to get their free techs and hopefully buy them for our free tech.

To the next player:
I think Persia's luxury deal expired last turn.
Germany and Japan's deals expire this turn.
I haven't sold anything to Korea in a long time so they probably have lots of GPT.

I'm thinking Korea is selling techs for lots of money to the other civs. We can fix this problem by gifting techs to the backwards civs. My plan would be to sell/gift techs so that all civs are even. Bring Korea, Germany and Persia into the modern era when we get Nuclear power so that we can sell Nuclear power for whatever free techs they get. Then gift everything else to the backward civs. We should still out research everyone because it will be a while before the civs can take advantage of their new techs (like steam and industry:lol:). Hopefully we don't create any monsters in this process.

I created some fighter because I was bored of tanks. These can be upgraded to our UU just for fun. It will also give us a little air support incase Arabs or Korea decide to start bombing us. The fighters are spread out on the corners because I was doing recon flights. They're fortified now but you can wake them to do recon or just put them on air superiority. (Not necessary until the tech gifting happens or Korea gets flight.)

We're building the manhattan project but I'm not sure that's what we want to do. I guess we could use nukes to store our sheild output.

I think that most of the critical worker stuff is done. Most turns were just polution control and pointless irrigation in cities that have a lot of food already. The towns with low food are because they have all mountains (Las Vegas) or don't control all their 21 tiles (Philidelphia etc.) I tried rushing culture buildings there and happiness buildings anywhere there's frowny faces. Any city thats set to battleship or tank has all improvements it needs (I skipped police stations where less than 3g were corrupt, didn't build civil defense or coal plant (obviously since we have hoovers).

All in all, it was a rushed set of turns on little sleep so go easy on me.:) One thing I know I missed is going back into towns and reassigning citizens when polution struck. For the most part, I don't think it mattered. Growth Occurs so fast now that the governer resets them in 4 turns or so.

If Sultan is still out I think Banzai is up.

The answer as Banzai correctly calculated is C.

Nice job again CF!

I want to build Seti in our strongest research city. I think that is The Count's Hague (it has our FP, Copernicus and Newton). This probably means I will have to mine the area.
Do you agree or should I just build Seti in one of our high-shield cities. We are researching tech in 4 turns anyway.

Oh now I understand your previous comment about building Seti. Sorry, if I had understood, I would have mined FP already to see if it was worth it. I'd say, if it can go in Hague, put it in Hague.

Put it in the Hague. You know you want to build up 'your' ah er Stapel's city :p
It will be worth much more in our science city.

Go get em. banzai!

Oops  - I'd better edit that.

0.) 1400 AD
The Hague has 65 (-1) shields. No reason to mine. Switch to palace as prebuild for Seti.
Sell Silk to France for 34 gpt and 50 gold.
Sell Mass production to Korea for 255 gpt and 120 gold.
Buy Gems from Persia for The Corporation and Ivory.
We are researching Nuclear Power at 80% in 4 gaining 340 gpt!

IT.
Japan renegotiates Spice deal. They get Silk, Ivory and Electricity.
Germans renegotiates Incense deal. They get Furs, Scientific Method and 50 gold.

1.) 1405 AD
Sell Furs to Persia for some cash to improve our relations.
Drop science to 70%. Nuclear Power in 3 gaining 716 gpt.

2.) 1410 AD
Sell Flight to Korea for 161 gpt.
Sell Steel to France for 37 gpt and 70 gold.
I give Steel to Persia and Germany because they look funny.
I train a few more workers to combat pollution.

3.) 1415 AD
Colopolis builds UN. The vote is inconclusive because nobody voted!
The Arab city of Tabuk joins our glorious empire!

4.) 1420 AD
We learn Nuclear Power. Computers next at 70% in 4.
France ends our Wines deal and we can no longer buy it as they have no surplus :(
I start nuclear plants in our high shield cities.

IT.
Our privateer sinks a French galleon!!

5.) 1425 AD
Sell Motorized Transportation to Korea for 70 gpt and 100 gold. They enter the modern age and get Computers for free.
I give some techs to Germany and Persia and now they are in the modern age too!
Persia gets Fission for free. Germany gets Computers for free.
We trade Fission to Korea for Computers and The Hague starts Seti due in 11.
Rocketry is next.
Research labs are ordered in many cities.

6.) 1430 AD
Casa Banzai finished our first Nuclear plant and starts a Palace as prebuild for Apollo :D

7.) 1435 AD
Our new research labs allow science to be dropped to 50%. Rocketry in 2 gaining 1596 gpt!
Most of our Infantry are upgraded to Mech inf. The cities with infantry do not have barracks.

8.) 1440 AD
McDonald's builds Manhatten Project.
Korea starts Seti in Seoul due in 50! It does not have a factory..
They still lack coal while the Arabs have three sources. I wonder why they don't trade.

9.) 1445 AD
We learn Rocketry and start Space Flight at 70% in 4 gaining 740 gpt.
We are an incredible research machine!

10.) 1450 AD
During all my turns enemy units were walking through our territory. That was fine with me, but now the Arabs move 5 cavalry next to Bukhara (near our FP).
What are they up to?? If they attack they WILL die (3 vet mech infs and several artillery are defending).

Space Flight due in 3 turns.
Seti in 6 at The Hague.
Casa Banzai is prebuilding the Apollo Program with a Palace (due in 9).

This is the third time I end my turns in a war or almost war situation. Is this because of my name?

Good luck to Col, our next president!
The Save

Congratulations on a more inspired turn than mine. I'm glad the trades fell on your turn, you did great. Bummer about the science guys doubling up on techs. I was hoping to get rocketry from one of them.

Arabs were moving a bunch of units to defend thier city near lemmings. Near bukura can only mean war since they have no where to go that way. Unless they're headed all the way down to the southern penninsula?

I'm sure col will be happy to have a short war anyway. If they do declare, make sure you grab the cities with coal on the border. IIRC there's also a rubber city on our border.

Maybe they've been saving trading their coal for this moment and they plan to bring Korea in against us. Maybe an MPP with Korea would be a good idea?

This game is going wonderfully guys, I check in when I can... a great example of how it is done on monarch which was what I was looking for... doesn't look like the game will last till I can get back in (June 11), but great playing...
