Just played a game with a randomly rolled leader and got Spain, checked out the civilopedia and it seems like missions got quite a buff some patch or two ago. At Cultural Heritage next to a campus yields 4 beakers? So a university at the cost of a builder charge, yes please! I might have gone a little bit overboard (but missions on hills instead of mines, etc.) but wanted to see what happened when I pushed it.

Cultural Heritage is a bit far up the tree, but can be beelined from Mercantalism. I had around turn 130 and then flew up the tech tree, cracking 2K science once I got Globalization.

Anybody play around with this strategy? It is a little bit like the culture first Globalization strategy, but the science ramp up comes a lot earlier.

Missions are nice, and unlike most other UIs they have no restrictions on placement.

Love them. Fun Civ to play and work the religion game with.

I quite like Spain but the seperate layer for religious units made using the conquistadors a hassle.

Since the revision, I have not tackled them but I can certainly see how that could be a pain in the butt.

Yes, and the bonuses are quite easy to get. Even if not placed next to a Campus they still get the +2 science from Cultural Heritage, and the extra +2 Faith from being on another continent meant that with the Earth Goddess pantheon I had a dozens of +4 science/+5 faith tiles in my 'colonies'. If I was doing it again I would say that Oracle is a must, I had to spend all that Faith on something...

I was wondering about this. So the Conquistadors can't actually escort a religious unit anymore? Just occupy the same tile

I actually just won a space race with them yesterday. Combined with the Jesuit Education belief and Earth Goddess pantheon, I had a ton of faith and could buy all the buildings for my Campus districts while focusing my production elsewhere. Just flew through the tech tree. Would recommend
