Anyone ever experience this bug/problem?

This is the second time this has happened to me.

Finishing a turn results in the game crashing to desktop, with Windows letting me know that Civilization3.EXE must close.

The last time this has happened to me, I had already won the game, and was just playing for fun at that point, so I abandoned the game.

But now, I am in the middle of the game - and I cannot continue...

Tried both 1.16 & 1.17 patches.

It doesn't matter how I end the turn, whether I press the "skip turn" button, or if it goes on by itself (if I've moved all my units), it always crashes out as soon as the turn ends.

I did try restarting the game (obviously)/my comp, etc.

Any ideas, anyone?

Very annoying indeed. The last time I participated in a discussion on crashing games changes in Preferences helped and in that particular case the Civil Disorder Popup. Not sure if it will help.

Suggestion is to post your zipped sav file here and ask for CFC members to try on their systems. My help is offered here btw!

I had this happen in two games playing on Marla's map. After downloading the patch 1.16, the games resumed.
However, Now on the Marla map as modded by Kitten of Chaos, had my game crash the same way. Playing on Patch 1.16. And I was on the way to winning.... beating down the french:(
The underlying map might or might not have something to dowith it... I has not happened on random maps. Yet.
Be glad to post the game if any one wants to see it.

happened to me too once...

switched my desktop to 1024x768 (from 800x600) and never got the crash again.

i switch it back to 800x600 when not playing the game on my 15" 6 year old monitor...

noticed directx was handling the dynamic screen size change from 800x600 to 1024x768 to play the game because my autohide task bar was not being handled by directx correctly. so i just switched it to 1024x768 and it never crashed again...yet

That happened to me before. I had to go Ctrl-alt-del and stop ocraware. Might work for yours.
