Anyone only played with *just* one civ and no others ever?

Myself, I've stuck with the Romans and haven't even lookd at the other civs since Oct 30 when I bought the game. Somehow it would just feel like treason. And for the emperors names, I'm slowly working my way through the list at www.roman-emperors.org (a great site for info about the Roman empire by the way).

I am the exact opposite. I worked my way down the list of all the civs to see how each one does, quitting each game after a few hours. Now I play on Emperor difficulty, random civ, standard size map. I enjoy the challenge of adapting to the bonuses each civ gets. In my opinion you are missing 90% of the game, but if you enjoy the 10% that you are playing that is fine.

Yeah, I only play the Americans, would feel like treason, too. But last night just for the heck of it I started a game and let the computer randomly select my civ and the map. I was the Chinese stuck on a tundra island with who else.... the Americans !!!!

One thing that irritates me is the Americans have a city named Memphis, but so do the Egyptians. So I don't have a Memphis, but I'll have a New Memphis, and a Memphis 2, makes me feel part Egyptian. Well, at least until I claim Memphis as my own :D

I have been mostly playing with the germans. I've just got used to them.

Has anyone noticed that the color for the French is a sickening sort of fuschia?? Horrible. I couldn't play the French until I changed the color in the Editor.

With the exception of a few games with the Americans and Germans when I first got the game, I only play the Japanese. The only civs that appeal to me on an "emotional" level are America, England, Rome, Germany and Japan. For some reason i just have more fun using my imagination to embellish the plot of the game with them, and of that handful of civilizations, the Japs have the most appealing combination of special abilities and unit.

I play them all randomly - I find it fun to be surprised at what I got - then i get to find a strategy that works well with my civs special ability combinations and unique unit. With my style of playing, however, I would say i have the most success with the Greeks - and the most fun (but least successful!) palying the Zulu.

Hi all,

I really find it hard to play as anything but the Babs. I love those culture points with cheap temples and libraries. I am astonished at the cost of a library for other civs. Where's Andrew Carnegie when you need him?

When I first played - I went for the Persians as I liked industious and Scientific. The Immortals were nice too but I find my bab Bowman a real help in the early game.

For a while, I tried many of the Civs but never played a second Commercial civ -- A waste of time and effort with no results to speak of.

I've had couple of good games as the Iroquoi Temples and a scout works well early in the game.

My son tried the Romans but now he can't think of playing without his Russian Cossacks. He keeps saying he wants to try the others but those Cossacks keep calling his name.
