I'm just curious. Anyone playing both games? And, if yes or no, why?

Somewhat. Because there's no hotseat for Civ5, I'll play Civ4 with my gf on occasion, though we haven't gotten around to it in the last month.

Actually, quite the opposite. I don't play Civ IV as much because hexes, graphics and 1upt spoiled me.

And I don't play Civ V as much because I find the possible strategies shallow and the diplomacy irks me.

    It's quite sad =(

I play both, but mostly because I'm updating and patching my civ IV mod. Civ V for vanilla games, and possibly a future mod.

Sadly, this will likely be my resolution as well.

I couldn't go back to Civ IV if I wanted to... I've been progressing every time since Civ 1 and I never had any desire to even start a single game on any earlier version, ever. The evolution has been truly phenomenal and it's just feels like devolving by going backwards.

On to legit hope for Civ VI and SMAC 2!!

I play both and usually run immortal on both. Civ V is far from a complete game and has a total joke for multi-player, so for MP civ it's IV all the way until the patch double-moving and allow...you know...actual games with more than 2-3 people.

I split time SP and each game has its pluses and minuses. Annoyingly, some of the most grating minuses (controls) exist in both games.

I would still play Civ IV if I had the time. I still may fire up a Civ IV game sometime.

I had been playing both until about 6 months ago, when I decided to quit Civ 5 until about three weeks ago, when I decided to try Civ 5 again... Only to find that although it has changed a bit, it is still really crap. I just decided to hybernate Civ 5 for another 6 months, at least.

I'll get to IV if I ever get bored of V- unlikely though.

    Both.
In my opinion, 4 and 5 are completely different. In one you spam a tower of spearmen that can rip tanks apart across blocky environments, the other lets you play a tactical wargame of robots crushing infantrymen over organic landscapes.

I got on a civ3 kick a few months ago when steam had the $10 for civ 4 + civ 3 combined sale. Civ 3 is still lots of fun, though I had to re-learn the game. I sometimes play final frontier plus or the earth 1000ad scenario in civ4.

edit: I play civ5 much more than the others, however.

I play them both. But I play Civ5 a little bit more, just trying to figure it out, and also trying to get an MP game going (with no luck).

I am. I play Civ 4 when I want to play civilization and Civ5 when I want a tactical combat game.

This. I mostly play Civ5 the most though. If only people would give it a chance and stop rage quitting because they can't sandbox the AI.
