Anyone playing on a fairly low spec PC ?

My machine is actually underspecced in some areas but still runs it fine, no graphics problems or slow down. specs are, amd 1ghz cpu, 768 ram, geforce 4 ti, windows xp sp2, hope it works for you on other crappy comps

Are you serious? That means I could just upgrade my RAM and I might be running really well.. Hmm.

No gfx problems and playable at 1280x960 low detail...

Actually i was reading the "People with Nvidia" thread, a few have low spec mahcines and it seems upgrading RAM does a hell of a lotta good !

Ive been meaning to upgrade but never got round to it, heres the perfect excuse !

So anyone else with min spec PCs ? I really want to know cos i want to preorder at cheaper price. Otherwise i wont buy it. Im not really a gamer anymore so dont want to spend alot of money on games.

I have and AMD Athlon 850mhz overclocked to 914mhz
Geforce4 Ti 4200 64mb
256 mb RAM

I've only played around in the beginning of the game. I would imagine the end game might be pretty slow, but at least I can play until I get a better system. I probably will have to use smaller maps too.

Flawless here (not sure if it is the 1 gig of ram or what but--game runs flawless for me with no "troubleshooting" of any kind)

My processor is low end I believe 1.8ghz celeron (but have 756mb memory 128mb pci video card though). It runs 'ok' is best I can say. The loading times are a bit slow and the movies are choppy.

Regular game play and going through the motions seems ok but I have all the graphic settings low.

Only played on a large map so far and not that far in where tons of loading would be required.

Mine is almost as crappy -- 866/512 w/ GEForce 2 and runs fine. My comp is so bad that I don't even remember how fast the video card is

Still got over a week to preorder. So low speccers, post your experiences ! Also can you comment on what doesnt run so well and what does - sound stuttering, with high or low gaphics detail etc.

A friend of mine has a geforce2 64Mb.
It does have T&L and the bare minimum of memory.

But will it run?

Is there anyone else with a Geforce2 running Civ4?

cool. At least you can turn off vids. Im not bothered about them, im sure they are watch once things anyway.

Also what kind of graphics and sounds options can i tinker with to improve performance ? Whats the lowest resolution that can be set ? Im hoping for a 640x480 option HL2 runs great at the res on my comp

wanted to spred the joy of the game running almost perfect on a low end pc

1.4ghz
nvidia Geforce 7000 GTS (antique) w/old drivers
1 gig ram
Soundblaster Live! 24bit

the only areas where I have noticed a lag in the game were:
-opening movie had a lage in audio every 30 seconds, really not too bad
-During gameplay certain buttons like 'show grid' and 'military advisor' seem to lock up the game but infact just take a long time to load
-everything else runs like a dream, no video slow downs which i really kind of expected.
