It's a variant of chess which only lets you see your own peices. Apparently the Germans used to use it to train their officers. THe opponent isn't strong, but it's quite interesting

Pretty cool game, although you're right - the opponent sucks. It falls for Scholar's Mate most of the time!

Memory isn't my strong suit so I would likely not be very good at such a game (similarly to how I suck at Stratego).

I don't think it takes memory, as such - but it is the only situation where both sides have the initiative that I can think of. Wierd.

Played the REAL game (two boards separated by a cardboard wall, two players, referee, and lots of spectators -its a fun game to watch) for many years over lunchtime at work. As with the computer version, poor players easily fall to sucker mates, but matches between two good players really exercise the mind.
