Hello All,

I've run across an error that I have not seen in any post. First of all I am running windows XP with 512 Mb ram and a Geforce3 Ti500 video card. The error I am getting is in year 690 AD after I end the turn I get an Application error stating the instruction blah blah tried to reference blah blah and that the memory could not be "read". Then the game crashes to the desktop. I've already reinstalled the Application and reinstalled just about everything else I can think of and I still get the same error. Has anyone else ever seen this? If you have Please reply. Everything worked fine with ME but ever since I switched to XP I've had nothing but headaches. Thanks for all of your help notsop

I have this problem, too. And when I read this technical forum, I find out, that I have many other problems with running Civ3 in Windows XP. This afternoon I´m going to try "Compatible mode" in Windows XP. (I didn´t know about it, but I´ve read it in this forum 5 minutes ago) I hope, it´ll be better.

Hello all,

I figured out my problem. I was running an old version of Marla Singers wolrd map that wasn't compatible with Patch 117f after installing the new map everthing is now working like it should. Snork, I tried running in compatibility mode to but it did not work. As a matter of fact, Compatibility mode has not helped me in not one instance of having XP related application problems.
Thanks

I have the same problem running Civ3 with Win 2k.
I thought that maybe it was a problem with memory not clean enough (I mean, after several hours, there may be some data remaining while they are supposed to be removed !!!), but to no avail.
I even started a new game, but still the problem occurs.
What I don't understand is that Civ3 ran smoothly since I installed it (1.16f, then 1.21f, then now 1.29f, no problem for one year except as of yesterday).
I hope it has nothing to do with the automatic Windows update process !
Just in case, my system is :
Win2000 SP4
192 MB RAM
DX 9.0
PIII 1GHz (laptop)
30 GB HD (still 20 available)
