I have heard that some people are playing a sid survival game. I am curious on if there are any other civers doing this.

Plus I am also interested in doing a sid survival game if I know what to do.

if a sid survival game is just trying to hold on for as long as possible knowing you have no chance of winning then I have one on the go, 500AD, only 5 cities and about an age and a half behind (huge map, pangea, 15 civs)

I'm playing one right now - 1300AD, and I could POSSIBLY win if I build up beserks, and take the UN (from whoever builds it)... It's a pangaea map, too). Also, the 3 remaining AI all hate eachother anyway.

im playing one right now as the mayans
its 290BC and im winning awar with the sumerians

basically i have 8 techs and the sumerians have knights

I know a fellow Civer is tryin to survive to 2050AD in his Sid Survival Game.

The last Sid game I played, I was next door to the city that built the great library and since I was so far behind, I just sent all my troops in to take that one city and got a ton of techs -- well past education, actually. Anyone know what the limits of free tech from a captured great library are? Can you get techs into the Industrial age?

If you are lucky enough that no one has Education. Though I am not sure if just possessing the tech would make it obsoleate.

That doesn't make sense. You can't get to the industrial era without getting education. Of course possesing the tech would make it obsolete, how else would it become obsolete? I'm sure I missed something here...

I'm trying one now. I have three cities, it is probably all I will get. I have one luxury for me, one extra to trade. Luckily I managed to get tech parity through trading, I want to keep that up as long as I can. My strategy is really to try desperately to get the Great Library than go from there...

To update that game, I built 6 more cities, thanks to the Mayans wiping out the Netherlands. I also just got into the middle ages, and I'm actually doing my own research. The AI tech pace has slowed down do to many (MANY) wars.

One day... one day... I might make it up to Sid level.

I keep trying to play as Austria on Demi-god... I even managed to get the Statue of Zeus to keep the AI off my back but I'm still at least a dozen techs behind and nobody wants to sell.

Then take a few cities and demands techs for peace.

I figured. That's pretty much how I did it on Emporer as the Mongols. Is there really any way to keep up in tech without fighting on the higher levels? Doesn't seem like it. The rate of expansion of the AI is mind-boggling.

The Great Library becomes obsolete for the OWNER the turn they get Education. So if you capture it, and didn't already have education, it will process the next turn, and you will get ALL available techs, including Education, making it obsolete that turn. However, you will still get all those techs that turn. So for example, if you are early MA, haven't got Education yet, but at least 2 AI are in the industrial, say replaceble parts, and you take the Great Library, you will get all those techs, up to and including replaceable parts, but will also get the message with Education saying it is obsolete, and it will no longer work afterwards. (Actually a very powerful slingshot, if you are that far behind).

I have yet to play a Sid Survival Game. To any Civers that are doing this. Are there any tips for an aspiering Sid Survivalist to survive up to 2050AD (I beleve that is the top goal to reach)?

I'm planning to milk my first Sid game; therefore, I must survive until 2050 AD.;)

When you are done, could you give us your tips to us aspiering Sid Survivors (I personaly dont care to get the regular victory so long as I win my personal goal of reaching to a set year)

I'm playing a game as the Chinese

Here's an early shot of my game:

Here's a shot of the Aztec Musketmens:

And here's a current one:

There is 18 Horsemen, 13 Swordsmen, and about 24 Catapults.
The year is 250 AD.

My plan is as you can see to try and take the Aztec Capital with some nice wonders in it. :)

The cool graphics is because I'm playing with my Graphics Flavour mod. (It's the same rules, only new graphics for the cultures and civs).

Ack, seems like I've been lying to ya...

This game was a Deity game I noticed... :(
