Anyone Tried a Sid Survival Game?

We're playing a Sid game over in the Succession Game forum and not doing too badly, I don't think--about a third of an age behind in tech from the leaders. I'd place our odds at winning at about 10-20%.

With careful micromanaging and smart play you can keep up with the AI expansion rate on Deity and outpace it on Emperor/Demigod. Keeping up with tech is pretty easy by never paying full price, using two-fers or three-fers, and picking your spots to research an ignored tech.

i tried sid (as a five city challenge) and survived to 2050 but suffered a humiliating loss, i got a scientific leader for currency but from then on i couldn't keep up with the AI's research pace and finished the game only getting into democracy and having invention. It was really brutal.
