Anyone wanna play cowboys and indians with me?
Seriously. I'd like to see a mod based on the "taming of the west".
Use a map of the western US/Mexico border and some units based on the time period.
Rewrite history and let the Navaho rule the west. Or maybe Sitting Bull will be The Man.
Can Custard cut the mustard this time? Or will the calvary run in the wrong direction?
Maybe LA would be in Mexico if the Mexicans had didadamnthang.
The tech tree would have to be worked out for advancement over a relatively short period but it's doable.
Some units I'd like to see would be,

1) Gunslingers
2) Texas Rangers
3) Raiders (Hidden nationality ground unit)
4) Scalp Hunters (tasteless but historicaly accurate)
5) Wagon Trains (transport vehicle)
6) Braves (indian infantry?)
7) The "Real Rifleman". Like Chuck Conners played, not like these flunky riflemen. ;)
8) US Calvary
9) Indian mounted bowmen. They were as accurate and fierce if not moreso than any other in history.

I'm sure there'll be more suggestions.

The civs could be the individual western states with a locked alliance, some of the more famous tribes who are also in a locked alliance and mexico as the pendulum that could swing either way.

I'd be happy and willing to help if necessary, research, design, beta test, whatever.
I'll probably try a crude version myself.

Here's a place with further info. Maps, dates, places and peoples of the times.

Well, I'd be very interested in such a scenario - one of my particular fascinations being the conquest of north america. This, especially considering the seeming odd situation - where the native americans tended to fight very well, despite a lack of modern armaments - I think it came down to a fundamental misunderstanding: That between a civilisation whose understanding of warfare was more seasonal compared to another's, based on a high density population and the pressure that imposes. 'Who owns the land?' Being the question, and there lying the key to the succesful subjugation by the immigrants.

You should probably build the scenario yourself, if you want it to happen within a year - using placeholder graphics while ironing out the workings, and hopefully some people will get sparked and lend their graphical skills.

But, what theme would you be playing? US, indian nations, and mexica? Who controls the west?

I'm gonna try to do it as my 1st mod, although I'm sure anyone can do it better.
The scenario will be based around the Tex/Mex wars.
Maybe 8-12 civs
Texas,California, Arizona, Nevada, Mexico and the rest being divided tribes of indians.
Probably start with the major cities established then begin the scenario with the ambush and taking of New Mexico. That'll start the Tex/Mex war.
The American states will have a locked alliance, There will most likely be 2 coalitions of indan tribes and the mexicans will begin with an older culture, larger pop.
Once the war starts it's all about dominating the west.

Pardon me if none of this is historicly correct. Right now it's just being fleshed out.
My biggest downfall is I don't know how to include outside art. Some of the units and maps created here are superb for the task. Even if the authors didn't mind sharing I'd still be unable to mix em in.
Maybe I can get a collab goin. Anywayz, we'll see.
