Here is a confusing morass of interrelated options!

Little Nemo: Settlers 39/40 in 1, 3 Settlers Crisis
  LN is Size 2, productive, Food 13/30, grows in 17.
  Maybe recommend change to Caravan in 4, then Settler.
  One of 2 existing Settlers Must Build a City...
  Island Settler may be delayed to clear Forest.
Bedfont Lakes: Caravan 45/50 in 1 turn
  Then build another Caravan?
  Recommend a bit more Food, now 3/30, then ReFreeze on Forest
Gabba Gabba, Caravan 30/50 in 4 turns
  Recommend IPRB $11 in case I'm wrong about BL 5 turns.

Island has LN Settler #1 and GG Warrior,
Trireme has LN Settler #2 and LN Warrior.

Little Nemo is supporting two Settlers. If it builds a third Settler, what will happen? If it disbands, that would be chaos. Little Nemo grows in 17 turns, so there is plenty of time to build a Caravan, than a third Settler. By that time, the Island Settler will have cleared the Forest and founded a new great city.

The Island Settler seems must move NE and clear the forest. There are no Green squares, so a Forest City would choke at size=2 with no food in the food box. Irrigating to clear the forest is recommended. That is PLAN A.

On the other hand, see the chat in Turn 120AD with MonkE.   PLAN B: We could found the Island City on the forest right now, start that Whale going, land the Trireme Settler to clear the Forest under the city and Road the Buffalo. In addition, this gives us a way for LN to build the Settler: change to Caravan, wait one turn until Island City is founded on forest, then complete this Settler. Many options are interrelated.

IIRC, If we found the city, you can't clear the forest under the city until we get explosives. Once it has the city on it, it can't simply be irrigated, but must be terraformed. The same reason you have to be mining the hill at the same time you found the city. Will that work with forest? Be irrigating it then build the city and let the irrigation finish.....?

If no one else checks it before me, I'll let you know if it's correct.
 
Im sure you can clear forests within cities once they are built. You can on the PS anyhow.
I voted that the building of the city should wait until the next turn, we will know by then if the next island is compromised.
The settler should start clearing the forest and if it turns out we do not want to build the city there the settler will be nicely charged for an irrigation task etc

I think it works fine to build on Forest, then later, whenever we want, bring a Settler and Irrigate. Its a Hill Mine City that requires a carefullt choreographed dance of 2 Settlers. It's a good idea to confirm this, tho.

The big question is, explore or found now? If found now, NE on Forest, or W to Buffalo? If Forest, irrigate forest or not? Whatever we decide, there are dependant actions.

I notice Rout included the same MonkE discretion option in that poll. Sorry, it was really your choice and I defer to your conclusion. I'm glad you're managing The Trireme. But it just shows, "Great Minds Think Alike", eh? Lol.

Btw, a filler on Forest for the New Whale sounds fine with me, code F5 Forest TFalls Whale. I still consider Filler F4 on Forest 3 NW of RC -- it will be a great Science producer using six otherwise dead squares, whenever!
 
This poll doesn't seem to include the possibility of founding on the buffalo, which looks good to me. I haven't voted yet.
 
I apologize. I put too much in this poll. People are voting for PLAN A, and to delay and explore, which is also being posting in various threads. PLAN B was interesting, but Plans C D E F & G are all better, and everything is up in the air! I need to remind myself: uncertainty and many options are FUN.

Found Island City on Buffalo. Move Tuesday. LN builds Caravan.
In the formal poll, I had voted for NE, the 2Special Site.

This method accomplishes the same thing, but no secret ballot.
 
Well, that's three for the buffalo, tying the current leader. If there's no poll, I'd like to build on the buffalo unless there is significant opposition to this posted. Just to state my reasoning: we'll get the city started ASAP and the location fits well with Aonia cities. Building on the forest looks attractive only because it grabs both specials. I'll explore with the trireme first, of course. If there is good terrain on the unexplored land in range of the whale (most likely), the buffalo doesn't have any drawbacks for me. For GaryNemo: if we build that way, there's an open forest square for a filler!
