Ap palace and hammers

I'm thinking about trying a religious/diplomatic win with AP.
I read a few thread and pedia to know how it works. The only thing that I can't figure is something about hammers it would give.
Maybe I missed something basic, but has AP any effects on hammers? And what?

Once the Apostolic Palace is built, all buildings of the matching religion (i.e. temples, shrines, and monasteries) in all cities will generate an additional 2 hammers for their city. This effect applies to ALL the other civs in the game, not just the Palace's builder. So, if, for example, Isabella were to build the Apostolic Palace while Christianity was her state religion, all Christian Temples, Christian Monasteries, and Christian Shrines in all cities, including yours, would then gain the bonus.
