My ally who shares my religion built the AP.
Later in the game, I was elected leader, but now I have no idea how to start votes on different resolutions.

Do I really have to *control* the AP myself, to move for a new resolution? Shouldn't being elected leader be enough?

You have to wait until the AP decides to give you a list of proposals based on the current state of the world.
Even then they're all boring like "declare war on so and so" or "stop trading with" or "stop the war against so and so", etc.
Crap really. Though it is somewhat amusing to see a Buddhist AP vote decide to "stop trading with infidels".

You will get the option to innitiate a vote every 10 turns or so.

I think the AP is amazing... In my experiences, I have been able to use it to stop a war that I am losing, return my cities, and even destroy entire civilizations (or at least eliminating them as a threat) by declaring a holy war.

Never underestimate its power.

You know that's one of the reasons I hate the AP - the way it can save losing civs from the chopping block. If the AP is the only reason you weren't wiped out, you deserve to die. That's my motto.

I dissagree. Just because a person is losing, doesnt mean they dont deserve a second chance. What if I got backstabbed by a far more powerfull civ while I'm at a war with another, and he catches me with my troops away?
It gives me a second chance to get my soldiers back to my land and play a little defense.
It's a wonder, and a damn powerfull one when used right. Its uses are limited, and its ONLY effect, is that use.
It is just as likely that my opponent could have got it, and decided to use it against me. Using that logic, I deserve to win, because i beat him to the AP.

It is a way that gives builder players a way to compete with conquorer players.

If you got backstabbed and lost it's because you trusted the other civ. Trust is weak. This is a world for the strong. Rawr!
I prefer to lose and learn from it rather than have the AP give me a reprieve.

You don't need to lose the game to learn from your mistake. It's only 10 turns of peace, so it doesnt protect you for long.

Thanks for the answers. \o/

And yea, I do like the AP. While my AI Judaism-buddy had control of it, he started a vote to give me a city under the control of another player, just cause my culture was pressing heavily against it.
I won that vote btw. :D

The current game I am playing, I was at war with Stalin and was about to run on his capital. Here comes the vote. "Stop the War with Stalin". I had quite a few cities with the religion (Although I didn't have too many votes as the religion was huge) and didn't really want to take the defy hit. Along comes the vote...."NO!" along with a "NEVER!!!" from Stalin. I was quite surprised.

I pretty much hate the AP. In my least favorite instance, a computer player built the AP and put up for vote that an AI city should go to my empire. Of course I said yes. Most of the world agreed. I got the AI city.

The AI declared war on me the next turn. I was wholly unprepared (ok, my fault, but still) and took the city back in addition to taking another one of my cities. I turned on my war machine and built an army and moved to take back my city, and that's when the computer player who controlled the AP decided to vote to "stop the aggression" against me. I voted no, because I now had a huge army ready to retake my city, but of course, the computer players voted to end my war. I lost not only the city the AP had gifted me, but also a city of my own.

I will forever hate the AP because of that.

no one has answered the OP's question. How do you get to initiate votes on resolutions? There requires no "state of the world" to initiate a war against the infidels. The only requirement for that would be to have at least 1 civ with State religion different than the AP. I'm pissed. I was so psyched about the AP and now I have to wait for the game to decide that I'm allowed to start a crusade war? anyone have a mod to end this nonsense?
