Aquaduct Placement

Hey all

Wondering if anyone could help with why I don't get to place an Aquaduct in this most amazing valley:

Is it because I can't get the aquaduct over the river? If so, why can't I place it on the dyes?

Is this an Incan thing I'm missing?

You can't aquduct a river your city is directly on, that's double dipping!

(Also dyes are luxuries and you can't replace luxuries)

An Aqueduct needs to provide water from a different source or location. That can be part of the same river or mountain but it needs to be from a different direction or hex side.

In the image you provided, the spot you are looking at only has fresh water access from the same hex side that the city already has access to. So it doesn't provide another water source.

If that hex was adjacent to a mountain or touched a different part of the river, it would be eligible.

As iammaxhailme noted, you cannot build over luxuries (or strategic resources). You can build over (and destroy) bonus resources.

The only thing you can place on luxuries are city centers and the regular improvement. If it bothers you I think there are mods for it.
