From the 1.3 Patch Notes

"Nation Distinctiveness
As version 1.3 hints at, we want the nations to be much, much more distinct. Under the covers, they are actually pretty different. Each AI player does actually play the game somewhat differently. However, the game must communicate this more for it to mean anything and one way to do that is to make sure the nations have unique content."

This, IMHO, other than the UI was/is ARA's greatest weakness. (Diplomacy has greatly improved.) While Civs each get a unique ability, the rest is just a collection of +10 or -10 something.

I would like to see unique units, unique improvements and unique buildings. Also, have each Civ look visually distinct. I would like to see terrace farms for the Inca to make use of mountains which are otherwise useless, for example. Mongols would have yurts/gers and a lot more people riding around on horseback in a generally more "rural" looking city.

There is a lot to like and I feel the game is on the right path. I do think this game is underrated and deserves to be revisited by the general gaming community.

I completely agree. I love things like Terrace Farms an other unique buildings/improvements especially. They add both flavor and gameplay variety. Another possibility for Ara, is unique goods.

Yes, that would be very cool. Unique goods that would be coveted by far away Civs. (No, not like Civ VI Monty. :P)

Hopefully they flesh out the economic system and add trade routes. Would also like to see ox carts to perhaps boost trade or to simulate having to transport goods around your empire. I do enjoy economic gameplay in 4X games.

Anyway, having a lot of fun with Ghana. I love building farms in Civ games and it is especially fun in Ara and with Ghana. Naturally, as is usual for Civ type games, in my latest game, I spawned an excellent sea based economy for Ghana but not much in the way of agriculture. Salted fish, anyone? Lol.
