Arafat an enemy - a cease fire suggestion that came too late

The Israeli government, after 7 hours of debate, declares Arafat an enemy of the Israeli state, and announce he will be secluded and isolated.

This comes, after the govt. was short from deciding to exile Arafat, but after tremendous pressure from Avoda members, and all chiefs of Israel's intelligence communities (Shin Bet, Aman, Mossad).

This is already followed by an action to make another medium term incursion into A terrains, and will attack terrorist targets and perform house to house search.

The PA will not be destroyed, it was decided.

This comes after for two weeks of inactivity from the Israeli side, dozens of people were killed, after Arafat did not take any steps to lower the fire, or declare a cease fire.

Btw, this all could have been prevented by an Assassination.

Israel knew the terrorist that comitted the massacare in the "Park" cafe, and only days ago filed a request to arrest him, calling him a "ticking bomb".

The PA, as usually, ignroed this.

Israel didn't assassinate him because of it's unilateral cesation of use of force.

Now we deal with the consequences of Arafat not acting, and Israel not defending itself.

We want peace, and we tried to achieve it.
We said that in 1993 on the white house lawn.
We said that in 1995 in the rally where Rabin was assassinated.
We said that in 1999 when Barak won.
We said that in 2000 during camp david.
We said that in 2000 when we were negociation under fire since september until late december.

Read this about how arafat have done nothing to stop terror during all this time:

Off Topic:

Screw CNN - I posted it first in the whole f*cking wide world on Apolyton :D

After the latest wave of suicide attacks, I'm not surprised by this.

I think it will come down to all out war.

I think the story of the scorpion correctly demonstrates the hard truth about the Middle East. For the benefit of those who do not know it, here it is.

"A scorpion once wanted to cross a stream, but could not swim. He turned to a frog and asked his help.
The frog was reluctant and asked the scorpion to promise that he would'nt sting him when they were in or our if the water.
The scorpion agreed and hopped onto the frog's back.
Midway through the journey, the scorpion stings the frog and starts to sink with the frog. The drowning frog asks the scorpion why it did such a foolish thing to which the scorpion replies,
'This the Middle East my friend' ."

So we will come a bit closer to Arafat's offices, and kill 100 people per day and not 50(like in the previous massive attacks) and the rhetorics will be harsher, but eventually everything will be the same, until the next time 30 Israelis are killed in a day.

There is no solution but to take over all Pal cities, destroy the PA, send Arafat to heaven and disarm everything that moves.

--------

The palestinian TV calls for Muslims all around the world to attack Israeli and American embassies.

"There is no solution but to take over all Pal cities, destroy the PA, send Arafat to heaven and disarm everything that moves."

Amen, Eli. This has gone far enough. It is time to take firm and decisive action, and to kill and destroy Arafat and all his terrorist ilk.

And the quote about the scorpion and frog; when I last heard it, the punchline was "I can't help it. It's in my nature", which sounds a lot better than this one.

I don't know if just destroying everything os the best solution. I think we should remove Arafat and put a puppet goverment for a while, and after things will come dawn Israel should send supervisers to monitor a fullt democratic elections (ofcource if one of the candidates will support terrorism he might have a little accident) and then, with the chosen leader, we should finish the peace process.

The first step to at least a cold peace would be to remove Arafat. It'd be like having the U.S. string Usama bin Laden around for another eight years.

I think I forgot the punch line for the scorpion and the frog story. But i'm pretty sure that the middle east part of it was in the punch line.

Just watched on CNN, Israeli army trying to capture, expel or kill Arafat.:rocket2: :rocket3: :rocket: :ripper: :sniper:

It came from "The Crying Game", and there was no mention of the Middle East there.
And Arafat must be expelled, the sooner the better.:goodjob:

As much as I know they're not trying to do anything to him, but his body guards started shooting at the IDF soldiers that attacked the perimiter so th IDF is fighting back. Arafat escaped to a different building in this huge perimiter. Read what I wrote in the "Saudi 'peace' plan" thread.

And he sure is trying hard. The news showed machine gun fire coming out of the same room Arafat was in (It's easy to spot it because it's the only room with electricity).
Anyway he's gonna be disappointed. The goverment decided to pretty much turn his building into a jail. He won't be officialy a prisoner but he also won't be able to go to the bathroom without Sharon's aproval.

The Scorpion And The Frog (I belive Aesop is the author)

One day a scorpion was walking along the riverbank trying to find a
way to get across the river that separated him from his desired
location when he came across a frog sitting alongside the riverbank.
The scorpion walked up to the frog and asked the frog if he would take
him across the river. The frog quickly replied, "No, I would not give
you a ride." The scorpion then asked him why. The frog replied,
"Because Mr. Scorpion if I gave you a ride on my back you would sting
me and I would drown." Quickly the scorpion replied, "But Mr. Frog, if
I stung you then you would drown and if you drown then I would drown
also." The frog thought for a moment and then said, "I guess you're
right, then I will give you a ride." The scorpion jumps on the frog's
back and they start crossing the river. Half way across the river the
frog suddenly feels a sharp pain in his back, as the scorpion stings
him. The frog immediately starts to panic as he feels the venom race
through his veins and he quickly begins to become paralyzed. Just as
he is taking his last breath and about to go down, the frog looks at
the scorpion and asks "Why did you do it? You promised not to sting
me! Now we are both going to drown!" The scorpion replies, "I'm sorry,
Sir, but I could not help it - it's my nature".

yep ,i give you the right to start a flame war on me ,but i choose the side of Arafat.

The problem lies with Sharon ,HE doesn't want peace ,you can trow me full of propagandized argument's but i'll stick to my point.the American gouverment has givven support for the Israeli action's ,so the israeli have now nothing to stop them if they wan't to kill the gouverment.

But kill Arafat and there goes youre chance's for peace. It is something that Sharon would like.

Maybe the American's think we European's are "stupid" ,"bakyard's" ,or "mis-informed" or "propagandized" by believing that the clue to the problem lies in Israeli hands. But we know why we think that way ,and frankly i don't feel in the mood to start a heathend discussion that will lead to nowwhere anyway.

I am sick of it ,if it was for me i would trow Sharon foir a war tribunal any day.

in i am sick of using the term "terrorism" to justify the killing of hunderd's of innocent civilian's.

Arafat doesn't have power over Hamas and other terrorist organization's in his country.sharon only say's so so that he can continue his dirty agenda.

Even this thread title.Arafat has made dozen's of attempt's to start peace talk's ,Sharon none.

Name one attempt Arafat has done to get a cease fire.
You're against Sharon but you have nothing to blame him with! Sharon had made 4 cease fires. Arafat none. Sharon accepted the Tenet, Mitchell and Zinni plans, Arafat only partialy. Sharon declared he's willing to negotiate about peace if ther'll be a cease fire. Arafat declared that untill Israel will give him anything he wants there won't be any peace. Arafat is sending his troops to kill civilians while Sharon is sending his troops to arrest terrorists.

You wanna put Sharon on trial? On what charges?

There's only one side in here that's targeting civilians and that's not the Israeli side (hint)

The only reason the US is supporting Israel is because they know it's Arafat fault. You don't seem to know much about anything going on in here but it doesn't prevent you from saying that nothing will change your mind. Is this the liberal european position? "We know the truth and you don't"?

You're just so affected by Palestinian propoganda you don't even think about what you're saying. You say you know why there are terrorists? Well tell us why. Just remember that muslim terrorists have been here since the 1920s so your explanation should consider that as well.

don't drink the water

By: Dave Matthews Band

Come out, come out, no use in hiding
Come now, come now, can you not see?
There's no place here, what were you expecting?
No room for both, just room for me
So you will lay your arms down
Yes I will call this home

Away, away you have been banished
Your land is gone and given me
And here I will spread my wings
Yes I will call this home

What's that you say?
You feel the right to remain?
Then stay and I will bury you

What's that you say?
Your father's spirit still lives in this place,
Well I will silence you

Here's the hitch, your horse is leaving,
Don't miss your boat, it's leaving now
And as you go I will spread my wings
Yes I will call this home

I have no time to justify to you
Fool you're blind, move aside for me
All I can say to you, my new neighbor
Is you must move on or I will bury you

[chanting]

Now as I rest my feet by this fire
Those hands once warmed here
But I have retired them
I can breathe my own air
And I can sleep more soundly
Upon these pour souls
I'll build heaven and call it home
'Cause you're all dead now.

And I live with my justice
And I live with my greedy need
Oh I live with no mercy
And I live with my frenzied feeding
And I live with my hatred
And I live with my jealousy
Oh I live with the notion
That I don't need anyone but me

Don't drink the water
Don't drink the water
Blood in the water
Don't drink the water

Don't drink the water
Don't drink the water
There's blood in the water
Don't drink the water
Blood in the water

You'll all be dead

Does this not sound like what happened to the palestinians' ancestors by the Jews?

NOw, don't go getting the crazy idea that I support terrorism at ALL. I hate it and what it has done to MY COUNTRY, the USA. I do think that Arafat needs to be put to a stop. For all of his blabbering, he does nothing.

The song does make you think, though.

I makes me think alright. It makes me think you're talking about things you don't know about.
Jews never told the Palestinians to go away. The only reason Palestinians are refugees is because they started a war and when they lost a lot of them escaped to other countries. Escaped but not forced out.
You wanna talk - talk. There's no use in puting a song that is inapropriate and that doesn't have anything to do with anthing.

Arafat has failed to bring out peace after many chances. He ought to do the honourable thing and step down. The PA should do the honourable thing and strive to become a productive and peaceful government.

But my question is how will the attack and attempted arrest of Arafat bring the end of terrorism? It will only flare up the militants and they will now probably escalate their attacks.

What do you call the conquest of Canaan in the Bible, were the people there not pushed out by the Jewish?

From your prespective, the song has nothing to do with what we are talking about. I used it to merely get you thinking, not to incite some form of anger. Sorry. I meant no harm.

I always thought that song referred to the American Indians. I can see the parallels either way to an extent, but I think it fits American expansion across the continent better. IMHO.

Never liked that song, or Dave Mathews much for that matter. My wife does, so therefore I have to hear it sometimes. But I can't play Dire Straits or Bruce Springstein while we in the car. Hardly fair if you ask me. Another thing I don't like is....

Oops, sorry, won't happen again.
