Are children sent to school too early?

^ He was talking about me, clearly.

you whine an awful lot.

It was simply an answer to this post:

All you kids who 'can't wait to finish school' are insane. You will never again have it as good as you do now. Imagine trying to get to work by 6:30am working 10-12 hours then going home.

And I do not believe that I will never again have it as good as I do now. There are only 2 ways to prove this: a) prove that it's worse than it's likely going to be; b) prove that it's likely going to be better. I simply chose the first one. :)

So, let's go back on topic: Are children sent to school too early (time-wise or age-wise)?

I much prefer life as an adult than when I was at school...

(Admittedly I know I have a good job that I enjoy, but still, just pointing out that it's not always true.)

Imagine you are in a music high school in Romania, having 42 hours of school a week, while you have to practice your instrument normally at least two hours a day (you just can't get by in my high school without that). Now imagine that it takes you around 45 minutes to get to school and another 45 minutes to get back... That's more than 64 hours spent each week with school, going and coming back from school, or with school related things.

This is of course without counting homework, only home instrument practice. So excluding practicing at weekends (which leads us to over 60 hours a week instead of over 64) and dividing by 5 (the number of working days in a week), it means on average you need about 12 hours a day with "school, going and coming back from school, or with school related things". Which is more than the huge majority of the jobs, as far as I know. ;)

Just because where you live "insane kids" have very little school, it doesn't mean it's the same everywhere.
I've topped that in work and I matched it for a time in high school.. Though the high school after hours were a choice playing football (American).

Still, if you chose to go to this high school, then you should have known what it would mean as far as commuting and time required.

Yes, I did know the commuting and time required, it's just that I don't believe that it is the easiest time of my life. :)
