Are early UUs basically worthless?

I'm a big fan of War Carts. They're super cheap, great for stealing settlers and grabbing a strong position early on, and then they upgrade to knights which hit very hard in the medieval era. Terrain permitting, you could do worse than churning out War Carts and making a beeline for Stirrups (knights).

And there's one extra benefit to many of these early UUs that's not often mentioned - many of them get a gold discount on upgrading them into their succeeding unit.

Lol. Early UUs are amazing and make for easy games for the sole reason that the part of the game where you re most vulnerable is the early game.

And considering that it s already easy to start a war with an archer pack, a UU is just a bonus. Macedonia and persia are insane to go for a massive early conquest. Thing iz that UUs being stroger, they can cope fighting more advanced units for a while. As for snowballing, units might lose their unique abilities when upgraded but you still keep the experience stored on your OP UUs.

Persia with immortals upgraded to musketmen is insane.
