Are Game Seeds Version Dependent?

I had a nice map from a game started a week or so ago

Thought that I'd just create a new game with the same setup and am not able to get the same map to spawn.

So I am wondering if game seeds from a prior version won't work with the current version?

AFAIK the seeds work until the map generator gets changed, which doesn’t happen often. And of course the map settings (type, high or low sea level, etc) need for match.

I should ask if you are also using the same game seed in addition to the map seed; if you only copy the map seed you can end up in a different spot even playing the same Civ both times, because the pick of opponents changes, and that can reshuffle player placement.

Are you using fire tuner (to auto reveal) to verify it is in fact a different map?
