Are Incans that good?

I was playing on noble with Hannibal. I had an incredible start. Many early wonders, founded 3 religions (Chr, Hin, Jud) and dominated the continent I was on. By about 1500 AD these Icans started emerging and easily caught my tech lead and surpassed me. How did they do it? They first won a cultural victory and then on a diplomatic victory when I reload at about 0 AD and replayed.
They dont appear to have the same issue of corruption and building up conquered cities like I do. They began to overtake a friendly civ on another continent. I dont know this for sure, but I dont see how those cities could be so productive so quick.
They also seemed to get a lot of friends and attack as an alliance. I did not provoke any civs. 3 civs (incl Incan) just all attacked even if I was friendly towards 2 of them. That irks me to no end! I can only get a defense pack. I can never seem to be able to convince someone to attack another civ unless I have riduculous amounts of influence. The AI seems to have a huge advantage in this area.

Is there a way for me to get an alliance and attack?

Noble is supposed to be equal footing, but it seems I can only get a couple friends b4 every other civ gathers an alliance against me.
Any advice would help, these Incans are driving me crazy starting mid-game!

thnks

Being a Gandhi-Monger myself, know how war relates to rivals. Did you discover (and make friends with) the other continent first? And if not, did you declare on someone who was friendly to them?

I made friends with the one other civ on my continent first (I controlled about 70% of it). I tried to be friendly to both the Incan and his rival Lincoln on his continent. Seems like Incan always gets control now matter how I play it out. I did fight France for a long time because they were friendly and declared war on me. I figured I should try to take the fight to them for a while.

Also, what do u mean by Gandhi-Monger?

Gandhi, of course, being a Spiritual, Peaceful leader,...
But I always play him with the intention of declaring War, just want the GP's and no Anarchy
I know, it's intellectually dishonest, but it works. :p

Incans are industrious and financial. They tech up fast, and are wonder-whores,

I'll put Gandhi (or Boudceia of India) against anyone, anytime. :p

Didn't they used to be Financial and Aggressive? Now that was a deadly combination along with their killer UU.

Better and better.

Yeah, I know they were like this in vanilla. I personally don't care for Inca with their new traits. Although, I will rush Huayna with axes any time the oppurtunity presents itself. I often go out of my way to. (Easy opponent take down from the get go.)

I only go axe rush against Rome.

The Incans can't be too bad . Last time I checked the Hall of Fame, all of the Conquest and Domination wins at the top couple of levels were played as the Inca.

Are you serious? Industrious and Financial are my two favorite traits.

Yes. Incans are that good. For just-starting-out-at-a-new-level, I would put Huayna Capac on par with Darius for most versatile leader, with Elizabeth as a close third. (Assuming you know how to leverage financial.)

Yeah, I personally prefer a specialist economy so financial helps me very little. And I have never liked Industrious as having the needed resource and/or a tech lead can more than make up for 50% production. And the UU cannot offer an enough of an edge on Huge maps. (WHich is what I always play.) To each his own though. The game would be boring if it only had 1 leader to play as ;)

Give me ORG(anized) over FIN(ancial) any time. I'm always a little surprised at how overwhelmingly people prefer the FIN trait over ORG.
I also don't care much for IND(ustrious).

Build cottages? :)

Actually, the great thing about financial leaders is you don't NEED cottage spam in order to do pretty well financially. With Elizabeth, for example, I often pull most of my income from the sea, leaving many of my flatlands for food production to run specialists, or workshops for my production cities.
