My mom has told me she thinks it's wrong to watch pornagraphy or to be on porn because if you're in porn you're debasing yourself, degrading yourself, expoliting yourself, or robbing your own dignity and stuff like that.

So the question here is, do you think people in porn are doing that?

I don't nessesarly think so because you have your own consent, and you're not likley to do it if you think doing so will make you inferior or lower in character. I don't think they are any worse or debsed than any other human being. Also, I beleive if I asked a porn star if it makes them degraded and undignified they would respond by slapping me and giving me an angry "NO! YOU A$$HOLE!" I'm no perv, I just respect porn stars as human being and respect their choices.

PS. I have anticipated a lot of people saying stuff like "You're just a fourteen year old pervert, and you don't understand at all." Anyway, I'd prefer if everyone kept comments like that to themselves.

I honestly believe that for some porn stars it is actually an empowering experience. Of course nowadays it is difficult because everybody with access to the internet and a digital camera can style him/herself a porn star and the things you have to do / put up with / have to get noticed are different to those of , say, 5 years ago.

just look at the "paris hilton experience". below average porn. below average girl. movie comes out (against her will, I'll grant her that) boom insta mega star, or that is what apparently many believe.

was that degrading? maybe for a month. debasing? I wouldn't know. robbing herself of her dignity? I am biased here but I will go out on a limb here and say that she probably didn't have that much of it. Was it a class A carreer move (albeit unintended... then again, I'm just gonna tape it for us... yeah... right)? you betcha.

There is a reason why that move (which should have been copyrighted by pam anderson, btw) has found many copycats.

What is porn and what is degrading is culturally determined. They change as society changes. As women have gained greater and greater freedom and power they have been influencing cultural norms in ways that have overthrown the traditional male values that sex and control are more important than dignity and independence.
