I'm wondering because I always seem to have Mount Kailash, and very rarly find the fountain of you.
Yes, Fountain of Youth is the most rare.
Check this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/1jae5j/information_on_the_occurrence_of_natural_wonders/ looks like (naively) Fountain of Youth should be 10x rarer then most of them.
Fountain of Youth (1)
El Dorado (2)
King Solomon's Mines (4)
Cerro de Potosi (5)
Everything Else (10)
That's interesting, I see Cerro de Potosi a lot more often then I should then!
Me too - I suspect this might have something to do with how the map generator selects suitable plots for the natural wonders. Each wonder has some restrictions that must be met in order for the wonder to appear (for instance Rock of Gibraltar requires a certain number of coastal tiles surrounding it), and this might affect which wonders appear on a certain map. It might be conditions for Cerro de Potosi are more favorable than some of the others.
I don't think so, need to review the underlying code but it think the generator first select with NW to add, then fits it in a valid place.
I had the solomon's mines in every single one of my last 3 games
Would be nice to know, so if you find something out, please let us know.
That is how I understood it to work, but what happens if there is no valid place on the map for the NW? Do you just end up with one less NW for that game?
Are you using an unusual map script? The odds are not too crazy. FoY three times in a row would sure make someone think something is up!
